Maple Lake was on the short list of contenders to win the Class AA state title a year ago. The Irish head into this year as the legitimate favorite. Amber Klug is a big reason why.

Klug, a senior right hitter, was an integral part of Maple Lake's run to winning the state title last season and returns for one last year with high expectations.

"I am super excited about this upcoming season," said Klug. "We will have a lot of returning experience. Even though we won state last year we still work hard every chance we get in the gym. Every day we try to get one percent better at each practice. We are looking to win it all again. We won't over look any teams, but we want to use every game as motivation to get better and to prepare us for later on in the season. We have high expectations as a team since we have 10 seniors this season."

Klug spent the winter and spring months playing with Crusaders JO, a club volleyball team comprised of St. Cloud area players.
