Continue ReadingNebraska ONE 171 Titanium is off to a great start after winning the 17/18 Club division title at the Northern Lights January Thaw tournament in Omaha this last weekend. This team wants to pick up right where they left off from last season. They finished 3rd in the 16 National division at nationals last summer in Minneapolis. This team wants to continue their success during their 2018 campaign.
Titanium finished 8-0 on the weekend and have an unblemished 16-0 set record so far after not dropping a single set during the Thaw tournament. This Nebraska ONE squad didn’t let a single team score more than 22 points on them, which is very impressive considering the amount of high quality teams that were in the tournament. A lot of the other teams already had a tournament or two under their belts, but this was the first tournament of the year for Titanium.
Many spectators of the tournament probably thought that there could be a possible all-Nebraska final, but I’m sure not many of them expected it would be an all-Nebraska ONE final. Nebraska ONE 171 Titanium beat Nebraska ONE 18 Makai in the championship match 25-17, 25-19. The tournament was a great showcase for the Nebraska ONE club out of Lincoln.
Titanium returned almost every single girl from last year’s 16 National semifinal team, and got a few more talented additions to their roster this season. They returned their setter Hope Leimbach (Lincoln Lutheran-Midland commit), outside hitter Lexie Langley (Archbishop Bergan-Augustana commit), middle Fallon Stutheit (Johnson-Brock-Nebraska commit), libero Erin Williams (Lincoln Lutheran), outside hitter Marriah Buss (Lincoln Lutheran), defensive specialists Paige Silverberg and Mariah Zvolanek (both from Lincoln Southwest) and right side Lauren Taubenheim (Lincoln Pius X). Titanium added Kamryn Willman and sister Lauryn Willman (GICC), as well as Camryn Opfer (Seward) to their roster for 2018.
Every single girl on this Titanium squad helped their high school team make it to the state tournament in their respective classes and want to continue their success this club season. This Titanium squad is hoping that their Thaw tournament win will be the first of many championships in store for them.
