January was closed out with quite the action in the club volleyball circuit with plenty of Wisconsin teams having their fair share of success.  In the Twin Cities, Milwaukee Sting 16 White took runner up honors in the 15/16 Gold Division, with 15 Black also being in the final four.  At the JVA Wisconsin Cup in the Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin Performance had three teams finish 4-1 at the 17/18s level.  At GLPL FC Elite dropped a match to Illini Elite 18s, but overall are 7-1 through two weekends.  Milwaukee Sting 17 Gold, Capital 18 Adidas, and Capital 17 Adidas are all 5-3.

Big City Luau – Minneapolis, MN

The Big City Luau featured teams all across Minnesota, but had a little Wisconsin flare with Milwaukee Sting and Madison Elite.  Wisconsin also has athletes competing for Kokoro which is in Minnesota along the Wisconsin border in the Twin Cities, which was the host club for this tournament.  Kokoro 18-1 which features Izzy Barr and Marissa Stockman of River Falls High School steamrolled the competition going 8-0, winning the 17/18 Gold Bracket.  Kokoro 16-1 with Emily Banitt and Halle Olson of River Falls defeated Milwaukee Sting 16 White.  Sting 15 Black was also in the final four of the 15/16 Gold Bracket.  Both of these Sting teams will be competing in the JVA Jamboree in Milwaukee this upcoming weekend.

JVA Wisconsin Cup – Wisconsin Dells

Wisconsin Performance had a solid showing at the JVA Cup for the 17/18 Division with 17 UA, 17 UA2, and 18 UA all going 4-1.  These three teams will be competing in the Club Division of the JVA Jamboree in Milwaukee.  In the 16s division Wisconsin Ice 15 Purple went a perfect 6-0 with Eclipse 15 Solar going 6-1 with their only loss coming to Wisconsin Ice 16 Black in three sets.  In the 15s division, Capital 15 Red went 6-0.  All teams will play again at the end of February to finish up a two part league with winners in each division.

Great Lakes Power League – Aurora, IL

Sports Performance 18 Elite, which is the host of the Great Lakes Power League in Aurora, IL is bulldozing the competition with an 8-0 record.  With a team full of Division 1 talent, it will be tough to beat them two out of three sets.  FC Elite 17 Navy out of the Appleton area has had a strong showing so far with a 7-1 overall record.  With a rematch of last years Badger Region Championship, Elite beat Milwaukee 17 Gold in four sets.  A fun match up to end the day was Capital 17 Adidas playing Capital 18 Adidas, with the 18s winning in five sets, with both teams sitting at 5-3 through two weekends.

In the PM shift of GLPL, Southwest VBC finished second of the A bracket, but had a tough second day.  Overall, this team has had a great month, earning a bid into Chicago to USA Nationals and going 6-0 opening weekend of GLPL.  Other teams in the PM shift of GLPL with a strong showing is Captial 18 Navy 9-3, WI Juniors 17-1 8-4, and Wisconsin Select 18 8-4.  GLPL will meet again this upcoming weekend.
