A total of 16 teams competed in the U16 event with Club Krush 16-1 emerging as the champion going 6-0 on the day and without dropping a set. It was a team from the Badger Region that claimed the U18 division among 12 teams as Aquinas 18-1 also completed an undefeated record.
U16 Division
As the event’s top seed, Krush advanced through pool play in dominating fashion with 2-0 victories over Tigers 16 Blue, SMV 16-2 Silver, and Winona JO 15U. Also advancing out of pool play unbeaten were G-Force Elite 16U from the Iowa Region and Stewie 14 Blue. G-Force advanced with three 2-0 wins over North Country representatives Hayfield Sundogs 16, Southern Elite Energy 16, and PEM KaBoom 15U Gold. Stewie defeated fellow NCR teams SMV 15-1 Silver, Atomic Force 15-1, and Defenders 15/16. Joining these three teams in the Gold bracket playoffs were KVBC 15-1, SMV 16-1 Silver, SMV 15-1 Silver, Hayfield Sundogs 16, and OYVBA 15 Blue. Following the quarterfinals, Krush would take on OYVBA and KVBC versus SMV 16-2 Silver in semifinal action. Krush and KVBC advanced with 2-0 wins, with Krush earning the tournament title behind a 25-18, 25-14 victory in the championship match. Final standings in the U16 divsion were as follows:
1st – Club Krush 16-1
2nd – KVBC 15-1
3rd (tie) – SMV 16-2 Silver & OYVBA 15 Blue
5th (tie) – Stewie 15 Blue, SMV 15-1 Silver, G-Force Elite 16U, & Hayfield Sundogs 16
9th – LA Digger’s 16 Purple
10th – Winona JO 15U
11th (tie) – Southern Elite Energy 16 & Rochester Storm 16-1
13th (tie) – Defenders 15/16, Atomic Force 15-1, Tigers 16 Blue, and PEM KaBoom 15U Gold
U18 Division
Twelve teams competed in the U18 division, with nine of those teams representing the North Country Region. However, it was Aquinas 18-1 from the Badger Region, the event’s top seed, that swept the competition on the way to the title. Following a 3-0 record and blitz through pool play, Aquinas won consecutive matches in the Gold bracket over RRIV 18 Royal and Shakopee 17-1 to claim the championship. Final standings were as follows:
1st – Aquinas 18-1
2nd – Shakopee 17-1
3rd (tie) – MN Attack 18-1 & RRIV 18 Royal
5th (tie) – RRIV 17 Royal & Eau Claire Slam 17-2
7th – Rochester Storm 17
8th – Hammerhead 18-2s
9th (tie) – Winona JO 17U & PEM KaBoom 17U
11th (tie) – Dover Eyota 18 & Waukon 17G
