Holdsworth did not make the Millard North varsity as a freshman and got only 85 swings at the varsity level as a sophomore. Following her sophomore season, Holdsworth found herself on a 2s team after club tryouts. What could have been a difficult stretch that brought Holdsworth down actually flipped the switch for the powerful attacker as she burst onto the recruiting scene.
She parlayed her success in club that year into a standout junior year for the Mustangs in which she tallied 193 kills and 224 digs – including a 10-kill performance in the Class A championship match against Omaha Marian. Now, still playing on a 2s team in club, Holdsworth is reaping the benefits of her hard work with strong interest from several college programs.
Right now, Holdsworth said, she is looking at Minnesota State University, Midland University, Emporia State, Winona State, Chadron State and UMKC.
“I would like to make a commitment by the end of club. The main thing that I look for in a college academically is that they have the majors that I have interest in and an atmosphere that allows me to succeed,” Holdsworth said. “Athletically what I look for are coaches and a team that I feel at home around and can see myself being a part of. I also look for a winning mindset of a team, being that I am a competitive person.”
