Counting down the top club programs in the state! 16s & 15s will be coming later this week…
18’s
1) Legacy 18 Elite – Loaded with D1 talent, this group is a contender for a National Championship. Led by a fiery 5’9 outside, Maria Mallon (Cincinnati) is a load to deal with.
2) Far Out 18 Black – This team is loaded with 2018 and 2019 talent. This group has the horses to compete with Legacy. Could we see a match up at Motor City Madness end of April?
3) Michigan Elite 18 Mizuno – Another group with several D1 athletes in this group. Led by the leadership of 5’4 libero Lauryn Gibbs (Michigan State). Your last chance to see this group will be at the Mizuno Motor City Madness tournament.
4) Unified 18-1 – Coach Larry Wyatt always has a group that plays with a chip on their shoulder. Unified is led by outside hitter Gabby Schilling (Rhode Island) and libero Illeria Kalaj (Western Michigan).
5) Volleywood Starz 18 Elite – Starz have not played a schedule like the 4 above but the talent is still there. Group is led by Prep Dig #22 ranked 2018 Setter Madison Gates (IPFW)
17’s
1) Michigan Elite 17 Mizuno – This team is 3-0 against the top 5 this year at tournaments including 2-0 against Legacy. This team is led by high school teammates & outside hitters Madeline Chinn (Purdue) and Natalie Risi (Ball State)
2) Legacy 17 Elite – Maybe the most physical team on this list, middles Jessica Robinson (Michigan), Desiree Becker (Northwestern), and Taylor Venuto (Loyola Chicago) provide a luxury many teams don’t have.
3) MVA 17 Black – Chip Will’s team has Prep Dig #5 Parker Kwiatkowski (Wake Forest) running the show for his offense. A team that works hard and has a balanced offense, watch out for them at the end of the year.
4) Unified 17-1 – This team is built around OH’s Paige Briggs (Western Kentucky) and Marissa Durand (Cleveland St.). When they get hot, look out.
5) Michigan Elite 17 Elite West – For being a 2nd team in a club, the lineup they can put out there is very talented. Setter Emily Kalinowski is the battery that makes this group go. She may be the best uncommitted setter in the class.
