One of those goals was accomplished this past weekend. 14R which played up in the 15’s division went 10-0 on the 3 day weekend, only dropping 2 sets. The first 2 days was all about taking care of business and they did just that. Sky High 14 Black and IVP 15HP gave them a little run for their money but they stayed calm and won both in 2 sets. Day 3 they rolled through the first 2 matches and in the semifinals came up against a very tough Crossfire MN 15-1 team. After losing their first set of the weekend 23-25, they came back to win the match 25-17, 16-14 behind the jumpy Macy Daufeldt.
It was a total team effort in the championship match. The all-around play of Kora Ruff helped 14R to an easy win in the first set, 25-12. They knew Ultimate G15 Blue would come back with a vengeance and they did taking set 2 25-16. The 3rd set was back and forth until around point 9 where physical opposite hitter, Calia Clubb, came alive. No one could stop her, and with the perfect passing of libero Gabbie Schroeder, Iowa Rockets 14R took the set 15-9 and the tournament. Head Coach David Rodgers said, “It was an amazing weekend, both on and off the court. The girls certainly rose to the occasion. It is so rewarding to see the girls work hard and have fun.”Now time to prepare for their last goal of the season: USAV National Champions.
