Morgan Kockelman S | Minneota | 2019 and Abby Hennan L | Minneota | 2021
In a Camden North-South matchup, Minneota, the state’s top-ranked class 1A team, defeated Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg (25-10, 25-9, 25-22) behind a balanced team effort. Kockelman dished out 35 assists while collecting seven digs. Hennen led the defense with 21 digs. Minneota is 20-1 overall.
Bella Larson L | Denfeld | 2019, Jordyn Maas S | Denfeld | 2019, Caitlin Schneeweis OH | Denfeld | 2019
Duluth Denfeld hung on to defeat Princeton 22-25, 26-24, 25-16, 17-25, 18-16. The senior trio of Larson (23 digs), Maas (46 assists), and Schneeweis (23 kills) is the primary reason why Denfeld is at the top of the Lake Superior Conference standings.
Makenna Steffel OH | BOLD | 2019 and Makayla Snow S | BOLD | 2020
For the second time this season BOLD and Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta went the distance. And for the second time, BOLD prevailed in the fifth set. The only difference being that Morris held a 2-0 advantage before BOLD turned things around to win the final three sets. Set scores were 23-25, 15-25, 25-13, 25-21, 15-13. Much of the same production from BOLD led the winning effort as the arm of Steffel delivered 23 kills. She also added 25 digs and three blocks. Snow continues to prove herself as an offensive setter as she put away nine kills to go with 47 assists. The victory keeps BOLD among the West Central Conference leaders.
Abby Stark L | Willmar | 2021, Sydney Olson MH/OH | Willmar | 2019, Carly Wedel S/Opp | Willmar | 2019
This Cardinals’ trio was too much for Brainerd as Willmar captured the five-set win to remain undefeated (7-0) in Central Lakes Conference play and one spot ahead of the Warriors. Wedel offered up another terrific all-around performance with 45 assists to go along with 21 digs and eight kills. Olson hammered home 19 kills as Stark disrupted the Brainerd effort all evening with 25 digs and three service aces. Set scores were 21-25, 25-16, 21-25, 25-15, 15-7.
Meeghan Dahlager MB | Yellow Medicine East | 2019
Among the best in the Camden South conference, Dahlager had another big night with 16 kills and 17 digs to lead Yellow Medicine East to the 3-0 win over Lakeview 25-13, 25-21, 25-21. YME improves to 4-1 in league play and 11-5 overall.
Olivia Riley L | Paynesville | 2019, Skyler Bayer OH | Paynesville | 2019, Abby Schaefer OH | Paynesville | 2019
Paynesville earned a hard-fought 3-2 win over Maple Lake to remain atop the Central Minnesota Conference standings. Bayer and Schaefer provided the bulk of the offense with 21 and 18 kills respectively. Riley led the defense with 23 digs. After falling behind 1-2, Paynesville bounced back to claim the fourth set 25-23 before closing it out with a 15-12 win in set five.
McKinley Schreurs S | Russell-Tyler-Ruthton | 2021
Just a sophomore, Schreurs led Russell-Tyler-Ruthton with 32 assists and nine digs in their 3-0 win over Central Minnesota Christian. Set scores were 25-9, 25-17, 25-11. With the victory, RTR improves to 8-6 overall.
