Their winters have been consumed by long van rides and blankets going across the region playing in weekend tournaments. For the Seniors that are playing club, this is their swan song, and the chance to find their place where they play in college. There are still plenty of schools who will take a quality player, there is a place for everyone. Here are some Seniors in Wisconsin who are definitely high on the radar and would make a great fit at the next level.
Maddie Crowley – Ashwaubenon – One Wisconsin/WVA – Outside Hitter
Crowley has all the honors which includes 1st Team All FRCC on a team that was conference and regional champions for the first time in over 20 years. With the ability to play on the pin or the backrow, Crowley has a solid all around game that she has developed while playing for the top team at Wisconsin Volleyball Academy. Crowley will be one of the top outsides in the Class of 2019 at the Wisconsin Top 250 Expo at Milwaukee Sting on December 9.
Carissa Sundholm – Wisconsin Lutheran – Milwaukee Sting – Outside Hitter
Extremely athletic, could run track or play volleyball at the next level, Sundholm was an all state outside hitter for Wisco who was consistently ranked in the top five in D2 the whole year, which includes a Woodland Conference championship. Sundholm has played at the national level for Milwaukee Sting and is dynamic enough to play multiple positions. An instant impact at making the gym better.
Ashley East – McFarland – Capital Volleyball Academy – Pin Hitter (Title Picture/Photo Cred: Wisconsin State Journal)
East led McFarland to the Sectional championship and had over 500 kills for McFarland as well as over 300 digs. A blend of being dynamic and powerful that was enough to earn 1st Team All Conference as well as 2nd Team All State. East will play for the 18 Adidas Team for Capital Volleyball Academy who also has the likes of Sarah Malone and Matison Jackscht, both are from successful high school programs with Jackscht winning a state title. These athletes definitely have the caliber to play at the next level, and a high level at that.
Christina Roofe – Kettle Moraine – Milwaukee Sting – Outside/Pin Hitter
Roofe is an absolute force at the net and has the ability to play any front row position. This past season Roofe played mostly out of the middle with just under 200 kills and hitting near .300 with 50 total blocks. She has been playing for Milwaukee Sting at the national level and will do so again for Sting playing for 18 Black.
Jenna McNally – Grantsburg – Kokoro – Libero
McNally has been a main stay for Grantsburg her whole career as a libero and was able to end her Senior year on the floor of the Resch Center. McNally was a 2018 unanimous 1st Team All State selection in D3. With over 500 digs on the season, McNally has played her club ball for Kokoro out of St. Paul, MN which has been a strong club of plenty of Wisconsin players crossing Mississippi to play at the national level.
Sheridan Dettman – Watertown – Capital Volleyball Academy – Libero
Dettman may be a little under the radar, but her game makes such an impact. An Honorable Mention All State selection for Watertown, Dettman led the Goslings to a sectional final. With close to 600 digs….(590 to be exact), Dettman will play for the 17 Adidas National Team which will provide quite the power this season. Dettman provides an extremely solid serve receive game and a strong knack for taking pace off a hard driven swing.
Janae Antosch – Mosinee – Pin Hitter/Setter
Antosch can do a little bit of everything, which includes leading her team to state. Mosinee break through to make it to the final four. Antosch is an all around player with over 500 assists and close to 300 digs and kills. At 5’9, Antosch has the ability to play it all, and knows what it takes to win. Antosch was also named 2nd Team All State.
Jolie Larson – The Prairie School – Wisconsin Juniors – Setter/Middle/Pin
Another extremely versatile player for The Prairie School, Larson really did it all, earning Honorable Mention All State. What sometimes is a little with athletes such as Larson when it comes to voting for All State and specific honors is that they may not rank at the top in anything, but the value they have for their team with their all around skill is almost unmeasurable. Larson had almost 400 kills, over 80 total blocks, and close to 400 assists. A smooth release and a solid block is something every coach would love to have.
