Local MPS Athlete, Alyssa Eske, Signs to Big 10 School!
Last night Alyssa Eske officially committed to the University of Illinois, a big deal not only for Alyssa and her family but the Milwaukee community as a whole. Alyssa is a senior at Rufus King International High School, a Milwaukee Public School (MPS) on the north side of the city.
It is not every day that MPS signs an athlete to a Big 10 school and this is a massive accomplishment for Alyssa! In her speech, Alyssa spoke of long drives to Illinois three times a week for practice. She has played for Sky High for many years, and her dedication to the sport and her training has paid off.
Athletic director Jeremy Nichols spoke of Alyssa’s dedication to school, tremendous leadership ability, good grades, and pure athleticism. He also commented on her passion for her community and love for volleyball.
Alyssa was very loved, and it showed both in the packed room and the cheers that went up when she signed her letter. Her entire family including her parents and two sisters sat up at the table with her and gave her fist bumps after her commitment was official.
This was an overall awesome event for a great athlete. The University of Illinois is currently ranked #4 in the nation and is known for their great academics. Alyssa commented on how prepared she feels for college in both academics and volleyball.
Congratulations to Alyssa, her family, and the Rufus King community for such a fantastic accomplishment!
