MHSAA Division 4 All-Tournament Team
In Division 4, it usually takes a strong team ball control game and a couple of hitters to score. Anna Smith and the Mendon Hornets displayed that all weekend. With 38 Kills and only 6 errors on the weekend, Anna Smith has earned our Division 4 All Battle Creek team. She displayed not only a strong net presence, but her top spin serve was also difficult to receive. Leland’s coach Laurie Glass had some very high praise for Anna, “Back in the day when we played against St. Phil and they had Allyson Doyle, I feel the same way about this kid that I do her. She just jumps really well. She hangs up there long enough to see what she wants to see and then she has a whip of an arm. As a sophomore, she’s putting balls just past the 10-foot line with ease. She is going to be a great player. She’s going to continue to be a great player. She already is a great player.” Anna is a sophomore and is going to be a nightmare for Division 4 teams for the next few years!
