10+ Athletes You Need To Know Before The Wisconsin Top 250
Last year at this time Prep Dig Wisconsin was barely even in its baby phase with one month of the website being live with the intent to cover volleyball year round of all levels. Fast forward through a full season of club, multiple summer leagues and camps, the peaks and valleys of the high school season, and now we are approaching our first big event with close to 100 athletes and 20 college programs who will be attending our Top 250 Expo at Milwaukee Sting on Sunday.
This event will feature some of the top athletes in the state. Here are some must watch athletes heading into the weekend that might make you do a double take with their all around ability.
Lizzie Binder – Milwaukee Sting – Sheboygan North – Outside Hitter – Class of 2021
Binder has been drawing Division 1 interest the past two years and has schools on the West Coast taking a close at her as well as most in the Midwest. The 6’2 pin hitter has a complete all around game where her serve receive is just as sharp as the angles she takes on her swing. A physical blocker, she is a tough matchup for the other side of the net. A definitely swiss army knife with the ability to defend and score points in a hurry.
Ashley East – Capital Volleyball Academy – McFarland – Pin Hitter – Class of 2019
This would be an absolute catch for anyone looking for someone dynamic on the pin. A hidden gem in her class, she is still unsigned. A heavy, left handed swing that is tough to take pace off of, East led McFarland to the sectional title game. In the 2018 season she had over 500 kills and 300 digs earning 1st Team All Conference and All State Honors. East will be joined by her high school setter, Lizzy Fortune who will be a top prospect to follow as well.
Karissa Kaminski – FC Elite – Howards Grove – Pin/Setter – Class of 2022
Kaminski played up a level last year on the FC Elite 15 Navy team that finished 5th in the USAV National Division, a setter on that team as well as a setter for the Badger Region High Performance Team had a bit of a switch come high school. In her Freshman year at Howards Grove, she earned All-State honors as a Freshman tallying over 300 kills and 300 digs. Whether setting or hitting, she can do it all.
Taylor Vanden Berg – One Wisconsin – Appleton North – Setter – Class of 2020
Vanden Berg has been an emerging setter in the Class of 2020 and with an older birthday has always played up a level for her club play. An All Conference setter this past season for Appleton North with a lethal serve and physical style of play at the net. Vanden Berg is six feet tall with the ability to take it over on two and also put up a strong block.
Kaylee Lorincz – Milwaukee Sting – Waukesha West – Outside Hitter – Class of 2019
Lorincz is a strong and dynamic outside hitter who can play on either side. She was on the state semifinal team for Waukesha West, finishing the season with nearly 300 kills. A definite steal at the next level, Lorincz has always been a national club athlete who has played against elite competition her whole career.
Josie Halbleib of Sun PrairieJosie Halbleib – Capital Volleyball Academy – Sun Prairie – Setter – Class of 2021
Halbleib and club and high school teammate, Payton Addink have been quite the duo in their club and high school careers (and they haven’t even played their 16s club season yet). Halbleib is a left handed dual threat who can set and hit. With just under 200 kills and close to 700 assists, she was key in the Cardinals run to the state tournament. Addink, the long and athletic pin hitter had over 200 kills with a high contact point and even higher ceiling for her potential.
Julia Treichel – Milwaukee Sting – Wisconsin Lutheran – Outside Hitter – Class of 2020
Electric. That is the style of play from Treichel, one of the top 2020 outside hitter available in Wisconsin. Treichel is a six rotation player who plays with an intensity that is tough to match. She will step into a gym and just make it better and more competitive. This past season she was a 1st Team All State outside hitter, has been a member of the Badger Region High Performance Team, and will be playing for Milwaukee Sting 17 Gold this year. Carissa Sundholm, a high school teammate of Treichel will be in attendance as well and was a 2nd Team All State athlete.
Emma Oelhafen of Xavier and FC EliteEmma Oelhafen – FC Elite – Xavier – Pin Hitter – Class of 2020
Throughout Oelhafen’s career in club and high school she has played every position. Extremely versatile and a well rounded athlete with skills across the board she would be a great addition at the next level with her ability to step in at each position, make practice very competitive, as well as high character and academics. This past season for Xavier, Oelhafen earned Honorable Mention All State honors with nearly 300 kills and over 200 digs.
Kady Stigler – Wisconsin Premier – Menomonee Falls – Libero – Class of 2021
A hidden gem as a libero in the Class of 2021, Stigler was the starting libero for Menomonee Falls this past season with nearly 400 digs. Scrappy, smooth, and a solid platform, Stigler will be playing for Wisconsin Premier this upcoming club season.
Brooke Clement – Howard-Suamico Inferno – Bay Port – Outside Hitter – Class of 2020
Clement is a solid all around athlete that might be a bit of a secret to the club volleyball scene playing for her local club out of the Green Bay Area. An All FRCC player with over 300 kills and 300 digs, Clement is a key contributor in all six rotations. A multi sport athlete that would be able to make key contributions at the next level.
We will be providing headshots for every player, have three writers in attendance, CMM Highlights and Production will be doing a creative highlight video, and will be providing plenty of social media on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram. We have over 20 colleges that have filled out an RSVP to this event! Lets do this!
