The club director, Rick Pruett, has been leading teams to nationals for the last decade and just completed his second season as the head coach at the College of St. Mary in Omaha.
MVP has 2 AAU National Championship titles, 2 USAV National Qualifier titles, and 56 alumni who have gone on to play at the collegiate level.
This season looks to be another successful one with 9 teams stacked with talent. MVP’s 17/18 BLUE team will be the first in action competing at the January Thaw tournament in Omaha, NE January 11-13. Here is a look at the club’s top talent, the majority who are uncommitted.
17/18 Blue
This team could be a force to be reckoned with, comprised of Iowa, Nebraska, and South Dakota’s top high school talent. MVP 17/18 Blue retains the majority of their roster from their successful 2018 squad who captured the 16 Club Consolation Championship at the AAU National Tournament finishing with a 14-1 tournament record.
Kenzie Foley Kenzie Foley 5'11" | OH Sergeant Bluff-Luton | 2020 State IA , who just came off a hot high school season, will start as outside for the club team. Foley (an uncommitted 2020) led the Sergeant Bluff – Luton Warriors to the Class 4A State Tournament with her heavy swing advancing the team to the semi-final round. Foley led the team in kills with 489, placing her 5th overall in the state for the 2018 prep season. Foley was tabbed on the Class 4A All-State First Team and named to the Iowa Fab 50 Volleyball Athletes.
Other fellow Warriors on the MVP 17/18 club team include Mia Gamet Mia Gamet DS/L Sergeant Bluff-Luton | 2021 State IA (uncommitted 2021) and Emma Salker (uncommitted 2022). Gamet, the libero for the Warriors, registered 333 digs for the season and was named to the 2nd Team Missouri River All-Conference team. Salker, a freshman middle, contributed 65 blocks for the 2018 Warriors.
Leading the offense for the club is lone South Dakota athlete, Ally Beresford, a 2020 University of Sioux Falls commit. Beresford directed the Dakota Valley Panthers offense with 1,034 assists, earning her 2018 Region 4A Player of the Year and 1st Team DAK12 All-Conference recognition.
The other University of Sioux Falls commit on the team is Nicole Jacobson Nicole Jacobson Sioux City Heelan | 2019 State IA , a 2019 outside. Jacobson led the Bishop Heelan Crusaders as an all-around player, registering 421 kills, 326 digs, and 48 blocks. Jacobson earned Class 4A All-State recognition.
Fellow Heelan Crusader, Taylor Wilshire, is also on the MVP 17/18 Blue team. The libero for Heelan recorded 469 digs in 2018 and was named as an Honorable Mention selection on the Missouri River All-Conference Team.
Sophomore, Jazlin De Haan (uncommitted 2021 OH), recorded 382 kills for the MOC Lady Dutchmen, helping lead them to the Class 3A State Tournament. The all-around player with a lethal swing was named to the All-State 2nd Team and also a unanimous 1st Team selection on the Siouxland All-Conference squad.
Outside Hitter, Jecenta Sargisson Jecenta Sargisson OH Le Mars | 2020 State IA , led the LeMars Bulldogs in kills with her powerful swing. The uncommitted 2020 recorded 245 kills on the season, earning her 2nd Team Lakes All-Conference.
Makennah Traver is an uncommitted 2020 outside/DS. The junior lead the Sioux Center Warriors in kills with 220, tabbing her as a 2nd Team Siouxland All-Conference selection.
Josie Reid, the lone Nebraska athlete of the bunch, is an undecided 2021 middle. Reid led the Class C2 Ponca Indians in kills and was named to the Lewis and Clark All-Conference Team.
MVP 17/18 Blue 2019 Schedule:
17/18 Black
MVP 17/18 Black has a roster ranging from freshman to seniors, only adding to the variety of their firepower. Here’s a look at the top talent of this team.
Emma Harmelink, an uncommitted 2019 grad, was a senior leader for the Sioux City East squad. The middle hitter registered 111 kills, earning her a position on the Missouri River All-Conference 2nd Team.
Karly Marx led the Elk-Point Huskies to a 3rd place finish at the Class A South Dakota State Tournament. The senior setter, who was tabbed as a 2nd Team All-State selection and named to the DAK12 All-Conference 1st Team, will be taking her talents to Black Hills State next year.
Rachel Wente was a key player in the Dakota Valley Panther’s success. The uncommitted 2020 middle hitter had 181 kills and 38 blocks her junior season, earning her a spot on 2nd Team DAK12 All-Conference.
Sydney Redden Sydney Redden 5'4" | DS/L Wayne | 2022 State NE is the lone freshman of the bunch. The DS made her varsity debut for Wayne this year and will be a stand-out presence for the Class C1 Nebraska team in the years to come.
MVP 17/18 Black 2019 Schedule:
16 Blue
The Sioux City East Raiders have four athletes on MVP 16 Blue. The Raiders offense was directed by uncommitted 2021 setter, Chloe Kramer, garnering 591 assists and named to the 2nd Team Missouri River All-Conference Team. Kaitlyn Stoos, also an uncommitted 2021, will continue to contribute next year as a junior right-side. Riley Donahue, a 2021 OH, recorded 191 kills and 131 digs for the Raiders. Lineya Wells, an uncommitted 2021 OH/M, registered 281 kills and was tabbed as a Honorable Mention selection on the Missouri River All-Conference Team.
Sioux City North’s Courtney Johnson is an uncommitted 2021 middle who will bring firepower to the team with her heavy swing and strong blocking in the middle. Johnson contributed 131 kills to the Star’s lethal offense this fall.
Kiernan Groendyke was the libero for the highly successful MOC-Floyd Valley squad. The uncommitted 2021 setter/DS recorded 264 digs and was a Honorable Mention selection on the Siouxland All-Conference Team.
Setter for the Bishop Heelan Crusaders, Jordyn Knapp, will be dishing out her talents on the MVP 16 Blue team. The all-around stand-out was previously a DS before taking up setting in high school. Knapp, an uncommitted 2021 setter/DS, recorded 459 assists on the 2018 season.
Pypr Stoeffler Pypr Stoeffler OH LeMars | 2021 State IA is an uncommitted 2021 with a ton of volleyball experience. After competing with Iowa HP for the summer, Stoeffler recorded 184 kills and 261 as an OH/DS for the LeMars Bulldogs, earning her 2nd Team All-Conference.
Lone out-of-stater, Rachel Rosenquist, was the starting outside for the Dakota Valley Panthers. The uncommitted 2021 grad recorded 237 kills and 74 digs as a sophomore.
Emma Westphal is an uncommitted 2022 OH/middle who is looking to make her varsity debut as a sophomore next year for powerhouse Western Christian.
MVP 16 Blue 2019 Schedule:
15 Blue
Here is the top talent on the MVP 15 Blue team to watch for in 2019.
This South Sioux City freshman made her high school debut in a big way, directing the Cardinals’ defense as the libero. Ashley Hedquist Ashley Hedquist 5'5" | DS/L South Sioux City | 2022 State NE , an uncommitted 2022 DS is quick in the backrow with 355 digs and a stand-out player, earning her South Sioux City Volleyball Player of the Year.
Sophia Atchison stepped up as Dakota Valley’s starting right-side hitter this season as a freshman. With 220 kills on the season, this uncommitted 2022 will dominate club with her lethal left-hand swing.
Sioux City North stand-out freshman libero, Avery Beller, had 275 digs on the season for the Stars. The uncommitted 2022 DS was named as a Missouri River Honorable Mention selection.
Another North Star on the MVP 15 Blue team is Madison Craighead, a 2022 middle.
There are two 15 Blue members who have yet to make their varsity debut. Makayla Grote, a 2022 outside, has a quick arm that will serve the successful Sergeant Bluff Warriors well next season after losing contributing seniors. Logan Miller is a 2023 setter/right-side who will enter her first high school match in 2019.
MVP 15 Blue 2019 Schedule:
14 Blue
Up and coming future high school athletes to watch for on MVP 14 Blue are Claire Johnson (Sheldon/IA), Elen Pruett (Sergeant Bluff-Luton/IA), Sophie Tuttle (Dakota Valley/SD), Brooklyn Kruse (Wayne/NE), and Brooklyn Roder (Lawton-Bronson/IA).
MVP 14 Blue 2019 Schedule:
