Continue ReadingWith the NCAA women’s volleyball national championship set to take place in Minneapolis later this week, fans will also get to watch some of the nation’s best prep athletes take the court in the match on Friday, December 14th, at Target Center. All athletes selected to the 24-athlete 1st team are invited to play in the match as part of the AVCA Convention festivities.
The 2018 class AAA Minnesota state champions, Champlin Park, have two athletes selected to the All-America 1st-team in Izzy Ashburn and Lauren Clark. Ashburn was previously selected as Minnesota’s 2018 Ms. Baden Volleyball as well as to the AAA all-state 1st team all-state. She is one of five setters selected for top honors nationally and is set to attend Wisconsin. Clark is a Northwest Suburban 1st team all-conference selection and will play for Penn State. She was selected among 10 outside hitters. The Badgers and Nittany Lions, Big 10 volleyball powers, both advanced to the regional finals this season.
