Below are some notes for a few athletes ranked from 1-10 among the class of 2021.
Ava Moes – 6’3 | RS |
Lakeville South
H.S. | Northern Lights 16-1 | Prep Dig #2
A formidable presence at the net offensively, Moes can bring the hammer from the right side. Helped lead
Lakeville South
to the class AAA state semifinals. Continues to elevate her game in commanding opportunities to swing due to her ability to terminate the ball with authority. She is also a big presence defensively and will continue to improve in her vision and footwork blocking with experience that will make her more multi-dimensional and one of the elite athletes in her class regionally and on the national scene.
Sophie Jesewitz – 6’3 | OH | Wayzata H.S. | MN Select 16-1 | Prep Dig #3
Helped lead Wayzta offensively with a savvy arm, high contact point, and ability to score with power or finesse. Also developing into a rangy defensive player with her ball control that position her as one of the best six-rotation outside hitters in this class. With good arm speed and increased ability to terminate from the back row she will command more and more recruiting attention going forward.
Jasmine Weidemann – 5’7 | S |
Lakeville South
H.S. | MN Select 16-1 | Prep Dig #7
Floor leader for a solid high school program that advanced to the class AAA state semifinals. Benefits from playing on teams with great depth and skill among her attackers. Her distribution skills create a lot of variety in her offense as she can dish to any location pin-to-pin with great location and consistency. She has the athleticism to play through the front row and put up a block that can alter opponent’s attacks in spite of her 5’7 frame. She brings the competitiveness that teams need from their setters.
Emma Torstenson – 5’8 | Lib | Northfield H.S. | Northern Lights 16-1 | Prep Dig #9
A 2018 Big 9 all-conference selection for a good Northfield squad that has great ball control depth. Provides great ball control stability both offensively and defensively. Has good patience, balance, and vision with good pursuit skills and ability to create great angles that keep her teams in system often.
