Even though Division 1 college coaches will not be in attendance due to a quiet period, that doesn’t mean Prep Dig won’t be courtside keeping an eye on all the action. Milwaukee Sting, RVA, and Capital Volleyball Academy are just a few of the clubs that will be bringing multiple teams.
Many will be playing a nationals schedule this club season, so the competition should be exciting. Matches start bright and early at 8am. The amount of talent in this power league will be comparable to some of the top tournaments in the midwest with college-committed players competing for some clubs, as well as players who will be getting plenty of attention from college coaches this club season. Here is a look at some of the teams and athletes to keep an eye on this weekend who could be having a huge club season!
Teams To Watch
Capital 16 Red
Teams at the 16’s level are always interesting as players are settling more into their roles. They are coming off a full season of playing varsity and new teams are forming. There is so much growth from their 15’s season that it’s fun to see them hit the ground running this club season. Capital has a steady setter in Olivia Breunig (2021 – 5’9 – Setter/Pin Hitter – Sauk Prairie) and a solid athlete in Alexah Mellenberger (2021 – 5’7 – Outside Hitter – New Glarus).
Milwaukee Sting 18 Silver
Brooke VoigtThis is a team that may be considered a regional team which has a few “under the radar” players, but is packed with talent. Brooke Voigt (2019 – Committed To UW -River Falls) and Nicole Martin (2019 – Committed To Kentucky Wesleyan) will be teaming up with uncommitted middles Siobhan Dittmer (2019 – Homeschool) and Madeleine Ellegard (2019 – Nicolet) and setters Anne Hopp (2019 – Committed To Bemidji) and Joslynn Wolff (2021 – Waterloo). This team also has Hannah Monfre (2019 – Committed To St. Francis, IL) at libero and Grace Peyron (2019 – Rightside) of Burlington, who is a top-notch performer and utility player at the opposite pin.
V-Hawk Xtreme 17-Adidas
This team is loaded with uncommitted talent and will be in future battles in the Power League, The Showcase, and Badger Region Championships. They currently have one player committed to a D1 school. They are led by top recruit Marissa Kleman (2020 – Committed To UW-Milwaukee). V-Hawk will square off with Capital 17 Navy at 9am Saturday.
New Players To Watch
Caroline Craig – 2020 – 5’8 – Setter – Madison Edgewood – Capital 18 Adidas
Craig ran the offense for Edgewood in 2018 and will be playing up an age group this year for Capital. She had a solid year for Edgewood where she played with top recruits like Natalie Ring (2022 – 6’0 – Outside Hitter).
Jaclyn Wise – 2021 – 6’1 – Outside Hitter/Middle Blocker – Green Bay N.E.W. Lutheran – FC Elite 16 Navy
Wise is a 6’1 strong, athletic, and versatile hitter who spent most of her high school season as an outside hitter. She has the ability to place the ball where she wants and puts up a solid block.
Kaitlyn BinghamKaitlyn Bingham – 2021 – 5’7 – Pin Hitter – Oconomowoc – Milwaukee Sting 16 Black
Bingham was an impact player for the Raccoons who made a state run all the way to the championship and finished as runner-ups. She will be on the college coaches’ radar with her athleticism on the pins.
Molly Lawlis – 2021 – 5’10 – Middle Blocker – Pacelli – Wisconsin Ice 16 Purple
At 5’10 and with smooth moving setters who can distribute, Lawlis will be looking to have a strong year on the club circuit playing in the power league, President’s Day in the Dells, The Showcase, Badger Region Championships, and the JVA World Challenge. Lawlis will be a big up-and-coming recruit.
Rachel Roberts – 2020 – 6’1 – Pin Hitter/Setter – Divine Savior Holy Angels – Motion 18 Blue
Keri WalkerRoberts is a dynamic player who was strong on the pins for DSHA’s tough team this past fall. This will be a strong club season for Roberts while she is playing up for 18 Blue this year.
Riley Alton – 2019 – 5’8 – Outside Hitter – Slinger – Wisconsin Premier 18 Teal
Alton is a recruit out of Slinger who is a 5’8 athletic outside hitter who is an under-the-radar 2020 recruit. She is playing with top committed recruits Keri Walker (2019 – Committed To Northern State) and McKenna Packer (2019 – Committed To Lewis).
