I’ve been following Iowa prep sports my whole life and seeing new players coming up there will alway be comparisons to some of the greats who have come through and are currently making an impact at the national level, and some at the international level. Even though these players aren’t old enough to drive to practice on their own (do school permits work for club practice? What a life saver that was in high school), they will be gaining the attention of some college coaches this winter when they hit the club hardwood.
Macy Daufeldt – Iowa Rockets 15-R – Class of 2022 – MB/OH – West Liberty
Daufeldt may be one of the top athletes to come out of the Class of 2022. This past season in her initial season at West Liberty High School Daufeldt pounded out 322 kills on a .424 hitting efficiency. Daufeldt earned 1st Team All District honors for the Comets. This season for club she will be hitting on the pin and will develop into a solid six rotation outside.
Calia Clubb – Iowa Rockets 15-R – Class of 2022 – MB/OH – Clear Creek-Amana
In a gym full of state softball banners, Clubb will be bound to hang one that is green someday in her career representing a state volleyball appearance for Clear Creek-Amana. Clubb is already a physical force at the net showing that she has a variety of shots from any position in the front row. She can hit a quick tempo ball out of the middle, go down the line on the right side, and blast away on the pin. The 15s from Rockets are deep and talented, with the makings of a fun year for this crew.
Morgan Brandt – Six Pack 15 – Class of 2022 – Setter – Sumner-Fredricksburg
At 6’0 tall and a setter, thats a pretty lethal combination in itself. Add in overall athleticism and the family lineage with two older sisters who are playing at the Division 1 level and you have quite the package deal. Six Pack traditionally produces high caliber talent ad Morgan Brandt is no different at the 15s level. Her older sister Jenna, just finished her Freshman year at Iowa State. Brandt is bound to have a breakout club season and will be fun to see develop throughout the years in the club ranks and her way through the ever so difficult NICL, one of the top small school conferences in the state.
Hayden Kubik of CIS and West Des Moines ValleyHayden Kubik – CIS 15 – Class of 2022 – OH – West Des Moines Valley
Yes, Hayden is the sister of Nebraska recruit Maddy Kubik, but when Hayden steps on to the court she brings her own style and success from the pin. A physical outside hitter, Kubik brings a powerful style and aggressive approach as a six rotation outside hitter. In her Freshman season at West Des Moines Valley, Kubik was the only Freshman named to an All State team in 5A, representing the state semifinalists.
Faith DeRonde – CIS 16 – Class of 2022 – OH – Oskaloosa
Having DeRonde and Kubik on the same team will be pretty dangerous. DeRonde has a similar style to Kubik where is aggressive, swinging hard for the open spot. A fast approach and high contact point makes her tough to defend and with a continued development of her all around game will be lethal out of the backrow as well.
Lauren Carter – CIS 15 – Class of 2022 – Setter – Winterset
Running a 5-1 as a Freshman can be a bit overwhelming, but for Carter, who tallied over 600 assists for Winterset she is well on her way to a decorated career. With the ability to distribute or attack offensively on the second contact that makes her so tough to defend whether it be on the varsity court or the club volleyball scene. She will be a highly touted, dynamic prospect that coaches will be taking a look at this winter.
Ella Caffery – Iowa Rockets 15-1 – Class of 2022 – Setter – Wilton
Caffery is another Freshman who made her way to the state tournament with the Wilton Beavers with an upset of Grundy Center in the regional final. This past December Caffery was stood out with some of the top players at the Prep Dig Top 250 in Omaha with some of the top players in Nebraska. An extremely solid, overall athlete Caffery has a presence at the net and in the backrow as a defender, a well rounded player.
