Continue ReadingWisconsin Ice out of central Wisconsin is the elite club in the area. They have had talented players who have gone on to have successful college careers and has ties to the University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point. The club pulls from a large geographic area because not many clubs in central and northern Wisconsin offer National level schedules.
In the case of 18 White, there is plenty of talent, and with that, there is also a core team that played for 17 Purple last season. This particular group communicates, plays with energy and passion, works together, and plays for each other. So far this season they were runner-ups at the Wisconsin Ice Season Opener 17/18s and won the Bay Bash 02 in Ashwaubenon.
Gabby JohnsonA Whole Lot Of SPASH
There are three seniors from Stevens Point Area High School (SPASH) on this team who made it just shy of the state tournament last year with Hannah Meyer (5’11 – Pin Hitter), Gabby Johnson (5’8 – Middle Blocker/Pin Hitter), and Lexi Iwanski (5’9 – Pin Hitter). They have a long history together, playing for SPASH during the 2018 high school season. Goals will be high for this squad as the play a more regional schedule due to having several stellar softball and track athletes on the team.
Megan SchroderBelfiori and Schroder To Stevens Point, Rickstad to LaCrosse, Who Commits Next?
Megan Schroder (2019 – Merrill) is a 5’11 outside hitter who has a high reach and heavy swing. Kelsie Belfiori (2019 – 5’5 – libero/outside hitter – Merrill) is incredibly dynamic and quick, moves well, and plays smart. Skylar Rickstad (2019 – 5’0 – libero – Wausau West) has a high volleyball IQ and can create so many problems for hitters. They have stellar defense, and their roster is loaded with future college players, and we can’t wait to see where they land.
Mackenzie KrachKrach On The Radar!
A couple years ago most people were saying, “Who is that?” And after a stellar high school career that included 4 trips to the Resch, people are asking, “Where is she going?” I was asked that very question by several individuals at the Wisconsin Ice Season Opener while Ice 18 National played Ice 18 White in the championship. I’m sure college coaches are wondering the same thing when they see Mackenzie Krach (2019 – Newman) play. Krach is currently an uncommitted setter/right side who is 5’8 and is as solid as they come. She can block, hit, and play defense! Krach is fun to watch; she is smooth, graceful, and has a high volleyball IQ. She would make a great addition to any college program.
Solid All Around
Teams won’t know who to key in on throughout the season with this team because they have quite the lineup. Rickshaw and Belfiori provide a solid first contact and do a great job as secondary setters for the pins. Iwanski was scoring a lot of points and taking teams out of system at the Wisconsin Ice Season Opener. With 18 White running a 5-1, it allows for a variety of options to score points from multiple areas across the net.
