Q) What do I look most forward to in 2019?
A) “I am most excited for volleyball season so return. I have a lot of experience at the state tournament. Yes it is nice to get there, but I’m hungry for more. I’ve gotten runner up and have made it to the semifinals and have been beat by the same team both years. I still can remember this past year like it was yesterday and I think that’s why I want it to come so quickly!”
Q) Who do I contribute my volleyball success to?
A) “I contribute my success to the two biggest impacts in my life. First, my high school coach, Renee Winkel. She has not only shown me how to play the game, but she has shown me how to love the game. Seeing her drive she brings to not only games but practices every single day expresses her love for the game. Seeing a coach that has that much love for a sport has given me that same spark and that is a huge reason I’ve decided to play at the college level. Another person who’s helped me earn my success is my mom. She used to be the varsity volleyball coach for Sergeant Bluff so I had the opportunity at a very young age to be around volleyball a lot. She’s been there to set up lessons, drive me to tournaments, and help me towards my recruiting process and for that I couldn’t be more thankful.”
Q) What’s my most favorite thing about club season?
A) “My favorite thing about club season is being able to travel many places and being able to play many varieties of competition which makes not only me but anyone a better volleyball player. But my absolute favorite thing is meeting new girls that become my teammates. I have made friendships with these young women that will last a lifetime and that’s worth everything to me. Playing with girls who have the same aspirations as you do makes volleyball so much more fun and competitive.”
Q) Best team bonding I’ve experienced?
A) “This past volleyball season my High School team went to our coaches father-in-law’s Okoboji house and we were able to swim off the dock, lay out, go on a boat ride, and play many games. I learned so much about each of my teammates and I think that makes anyone a better leader on the court. I had so much fun and I earned memories that will last a lifetime!”
Q) Favorite Club tournament?
A) “My favorite club tournament is the Presidents’ Day Classic in Omaha, Nebraska. There is such fierce competition at this classic that it makes the travel that much more worth it. I’m a sucker for traveling! I love traveling, so I love to go to further away tournaments. Possibly even getting to ride an airplane!”
