OMAHA – A total of six teams from Nebraska are still in title contention after the second day of competition in the Club divisions of the January Thaw tournament at CHI Health Center in Omaha.
In the 17/18 Club division, three of the six teams in the championship tournament are from Nebraska, with all of them representing Nebraska Elite.
Nebraska Elite 17 Frost went 3-0 on Saturday and advanced to the championship semifinals while Nebraska Elite 16 2.0 went 2-1 and also advanced to the championship semifinals.
Nebraska Elite 17 Crossfire went 2-1 on Saturday and is in the championship quarterfinals, where it will face Capitol 17 Adidas. The winner of that match will take on Elite 16 2.0 in the semifinals. Northern Lights 171 and Northern Lights 172 will square off in the other quarterfinal with the winner of that match getting Nebraska Elite 17 Frost in the semifinals.
In the 16 Club division, Premier 15 Black went 4-1 combined on Friday and Saturday to win its pool and advance to the championship semifinals where it will meet Nebraska Elite 15 KOA, which also went 4-1 combined its first two days.
The other semifinal in 16 Club is between Northern Lights 16-B and Northern Lights 16-R.
Also n 16 Club, Nebraska Elite 16 Ohana, Nebraska Elite 16 Electric and Nebraska Elite 16 Black Ice each went 1-4 in pool play and will compete in consolation tournaments on Sunday.
In 15 Club, only Nebraska Elite 14 Revolution got through to the championship bracket as it went 5-1 the last two days. Revolution will face Northern Lights 15-R in the quarterfinals with the winner of that match getting Northern Lights 152 in the semifinals.
Nebraska Elite 15 Coast and Nebraska Elite 15 Fiji each went 3-3 in pool play while Nebraska Elite 15 Forte was 1-5. All three of those teams will compete in consolation play on Sunday.
