OMAHA – The 2019 Northern Lights January Thaw 18s USAV National Championship Qualifier comes to Omaha again this year after shifting from Minneapolis to Omaha in 2018 because of a scheduling conflict with the Super Bowl.
The tournament will feature USAV Nationals bids being handed out in the 18 Open, 18 USA and 18 American divisions this weekend. There also will be non-bid tournaments in conjunction at the club level from 12s age group through the 18s age group.
With it being a national qualifier, that means some of the top teams and players from around the country will be in Omaha this week competing. The 18 Open is the most star-studded by quite a bit. That 16-team field features no less than 92 Division I recruits in it, with 31 of those being Power 5 Conference commits and a whopping 16 commits to Big Ten programs.
The only Nebraska teams taking part in the 16-team field of the 18 Open division are Nebraska 18 Ying and Premier 18 Gold. Both of those squads have very familiar names on them, so let’s take a look at who the top players are for the other, non-Nebraska teams in the field.
