There were 10 teams to go 3-0 on the day as Crank It 15u Blair won Pool A, Unified 15-White won Pool B, Crank It 15u Buchanan won Pool C, SouthernLakes 15 Jennifer won Pool D, HPVBA 15 NS1 won Pool E, Michigan Elite 15 Ruby East won Pool F, SuperNOVA 15 Rochester won Pool G, Unified 15-Blue won Pool H, Monsters 15-2 won Pool I and RISE 15-1 won Pool J.
The Lake Erie Power League will continue through March 2.
Standout Players
Pool A: Haile Polisano OH/MH (Crank It 15u Blair) – Polisano was aggressive with her attacks and the Anchor Bay hitter helped Crank It go on to a perfect day. Opponents struggled to deal with her at the net in terms of hitting and blocking.
Pool B: Kara Delventhal RS (Unified 15-White) – Delventhal did a little bit of everything for Unified, looking strong at the net, solid defensively, and also contributed with some setting. Unified started the day with a tough match, but Delventhal was composed and helped Unified earn some key points on the way to a win.
Pool C: Ashleigh Miller S (Crank It 15u Buchanan) – Miller was a nice and steady performer for Crank It in Pool C. She was able to spread the ball around and set the ball in good spots for her young attackers. Marissa Reyes passed the ball well to her throughout the day from the back row.
Pool D: Emily Starr OH (SouthernLakes 15 Jennifer) – Starr was a really standout player on Saturday as she was able to finish her attacks and defend well. Starr showed a lot of promise as she continues to develop her all-around game.
Pool E: Jasmine Savoi MI (HPVBA 15 NS1) – Savoi is hard to miss, as she towers at the net. However, she doesn’t just rely on her size. Savoi showed a lot of aggression in her attacks and blocks and had good footwork. Savoi will definitely be a name to keep an eye out for in years to come.
Pool F: Delila Miller DS (Michigan Elite 15 Ruby East) – Miller led a Michigan Elite defense that held all of their opponents under 20 points in their winning sets. Millers had a great eye for the ball and strong technique on her passing and serve receive. Her play allowed attacker Kim Martin to shine as well.
Pool G: Leah Stone OH (SuperNOVA 15 Rochester) – Stone was a solid six-rotation player for SuperNova on Saturday. She exhibited the ability to excel in all the major areas of the game and plays with a lot of confidence. Good things are to come from Stone.
Pool H: Kaylee Weltyk OH (Unified 15-Blue) – Weltyk was a consistent attack option for Unified, but her serving is really what helped Unified win some tight matches. They went to three sets in two of their three matches, but her strong serving really gave the team a boost in the wins.
Pool I: Mallory Cardinale OH (Monsters 15-2) – Cardinale was a standout for Monsters as she took on a leadership role and contributed all-around on the court. Cardinale has some strong swings, was in good positions on defense and passed the ball well.
Pool J: RISE 15-1 – Rise was the only program I didn’t get a chance to get my eyes on Saturday, but their defense was clearly solid, as they limited their opponents to 15 points or less in five of their six sets. It was an impressive showing for 15-1, as they should be a force in the Lake Erie Power League.
