Continue ReadingWith teams coming to Milwaukee from six different states this weekend for the JVA Jamboree, it will provide plenty of opportunities for the best in Wisconsin to compete against some of the best in the the Midwest. MN Select will be bringing a large batch of teams that are always some of the best in Minnesota as well as the nation while Michigan Volleyball Academy will be bringing teams from Grand Rapids. Here are some names to know who are already making an impact this club season and will be battling it out at the JVA Jamboree in Milwaukee.
Kendall Kemp – MN Select 16-1 – Class of 2022
Kemp is going to be a highly touted prospect come Presidents Day weekend. Last year she was 14 years old playing up on the 15s team, this year she has really come into her own and is playing a powerful style. Oh, and she’s 6’5 and strong. Very exciting to see a player of her caliber coming into Milwaukee this weekend.
Skylar Grey – MN Select 16-1 – Class of 2021
Committed to Minnesota
Grey was an early commit to Minnesota last Spring. A solid six rotation player who can just fly on the pin with a whip of an arm swing. The MN Select 16-1’s are one of the strongest in the Midwest with multiple players who will be high on the radar. They play in the Molten Series in Minnesota which combines all of the teams in the extended metro where they play against some of the top 17s and 18s teams in the region.
Presley Fink – Vital Volleyball 17-1 – Outside Hitter – Class of 2020
Fink is a high flying outside hitter who can just explode down the line. She may not be the tallest or most physical player on the court, but she sure does pack a punch with her swing. Vital Volleyball has a lot of athletes across every position and will be an explosive team coming into Milwaukee this weekend.

Emma O’Connell – Vital Volleyball 17-1 – Outside Hitter – Class of 2020
O’Connell and Fink are a great 1-2 punch on the outside for Vital Volleyball who will be in the hunt for the 17 Open division this weekend. A live arm, high reach and contact point, and a really physical athlete on the net, O’Connell can score points in a variety of ways. Vital Volleyball runs a 6-2 where they will always have hitters that can do some damage to the other side of the court.
Jackie Yang – Minnesota Volleyball Academy 16-Elite – Libero – Class of 2022
Yang is playing up on the 16 Elite team for MVA. This team is strong, athletic, and well balanced at all positions, but without a solid first contact that’s tough to use all those offensive weapons. Yang is all over the court, but yet under control. She does an amazing job of picking up tips, serve receiving, and taking pace off the ball, a major part in the final four finish for MVA.
Kiya Durant – Crossfire 16-1 (MN) – Class of 2021
The 6’0 middle blocker was one of the top players in the 16 Gold Division this past weekend at the Big City Luau in the Twin Cities. Strong, athletic, and extremely fast, she was a major gamechanger for Crossfire who finished second to Kokoro 16-1. Watching her during warm ups you could see the power which translated into the matches. Crossfire has a tall and athletic frontline and will definitely cause some mismatches in the 16 Open field.
Nicole Post – Minnesota Volleyball Academy 16-1 – Class of 2021
At 6’3, Post has a reach and touch that is a gamechanger at the 16s level. MVA has a really scrappy and strong defensive team and Post really adds to that dimension with her ability to change and alter shots. With great court vision she can swing or tip for easy points. MVA was in the final four this past weekend at the Big City Luau and will be a competitive team this upcoming weekend. Remember, there is MVA (Minnesota Volleyball Academy – North Country Region) and MVA (Michigan Volleyball Academy – Lakeshore Region).
Jasmine Weidemann – MN Select 16-1 – Class of 2021
Weidemann and Kemp are one of the best middle/setter combos in the country. At 5’9 and extremely dynamic, Weidemann is extremely tough to read when she is neutral she disguises her sets so well. She ran a 5-1 for Lakeville South High School this past fall which finished 3rd in Minnesota’s largest class.
Elizabeth Helmich – MN Select 17-1 – Class of 2020
Committed To James Madison
Helmich is Prep Dig Minnesota’s top player in the Class of 2020. She is extremely dynamic on the right side with a left hand that can do some damage to all areas of the court. She can go line, hard cross, roll, or just power through the seem. The 17-1 team from MN Select will be playing in the 18s. Will be quite interesting to see some matchups against the likes of FC Elite and Milwaukee Sting.
Ashley Slate – MVA National 17 – Class of 2020
Committed to Wake Forest
Mallory Keller – MVA National 17 – Class of 2020
Committed to Indiana State
Addie VanderWeide – MVA National 17 – Class of 2021
Michigan Volleyball Academy out of Grand Rapids always features highly competitive teams and this year the 17s will have two outsides who can really pound away in Slate and Keller. Keller is an athletic and physical pin that can score points in bunches and will take her game to the Valley and play for Indiana State. VanderWeide is a top five prospect out of her class in Michigan and has found great success on the high school courts at Grand Valley Christian and as well as club for MVA.
