River City Juniors Coming North
River City Juniors will be heading to the Luau from the Omaha, Nebraska area. Omaha is loaded with talent across the high school and club volleyball scene. River City which is in the suburb South of Omaha call LaVista is led by Coach and Director Deb Graf, who has coached the likes of Christy Johnson-Lynch, All American and National Champion at Nebraska and Jess Schaben, Iowa State All American. Expect this program to bring in athletes who are solid all around players in all six rotations. With many of these athletes competing at the Prep Dig Top 250 held at The Volleyball Academy, home facility of the River City Juniors, it will be a fun match with some top quality opponents out of the Twin Cities Metro.
Wisconsin Juniors
Wisconsin Juniors comes from Southeast Wisconsin near the Racine/Kenosha area right along Lake Michigan. A team to watch from Juniors will be their 17-1’s who have the likes of Karina Leber who is a middle blocker that has committed to Colorado State. Extremely dynamic and lethal on the slide. Maddie Haines is an IUPUI commit who plays on the pin and can score points in a hurry, same with Olivia Dir who is another pin who can play any position. There are three athletes from this team I would take a closer look at:
Karlee Lois – Setter
Left handed and extremely offensive. She bring another dimension to the net and keeps the defense very off balance. With her having the ability to attack or go to Leber on the slide defenses have to pick their poison.
Amber Bischel, libero for Wisconsin JuniorsAmber Bischel – Libero
Bischel was in my article on one of the top sleeper recruits in Wisconsin as a libero. She is just a gritty, scrappy competitor which really adds an edge to their team. She controls the tempo with the first contact and has always been a solid athlete for her high school and club career.
Emily Alan – Middle Blocker
Alan is a great 1-2 punch with Leber in the middle. She has been part of back to back state championship teams for Burlington High School and was most recently named to the all tournament team this past fall.
Madison Elite
Lexi Donarski of Aquinas will play basketball at Iowa State.Madison Elite is a strong program from Wisconsin (Badger Region) who always has some of the top athletes outof the Madison who consistently compete for state tournament appearances at the high school level.
From La Crosse
V-Hawk Xtreme will be bringing some of their top teams to this tournament which consists of area athletes from Wisconsin and Minnesota around La Crosse. Aquinas which is always a strong high school program, the Catholic school out of La Crosse, will be bringing up their 17s team. Lexi Donarski is listed on the roster and not only is she a top volleyball athlete, but she is a highly touted basketball recruit who is heading to Iowa State. Aquinas is the defending Division 3 state champions in basketball and are ranked number one this season as well.
