18U
The Legacy 18-Elite squad could be the best club team in the entire country. Legacy made it a perfect 4-for-4 on tournaments this year after winning the Elite Division Championship on Monday. Legacy went 8-1 over the weekend, with a 17-4 set record. Tournament play on Monday saw Legacy defeat Northern Lights 18-1 in the quarterfinal 25-17, 25-23. It then beat Asics KIVA 18 Red in the semifinal, 21-25, 25-23, 15-7. The final pitted Legacy against TIV 18 Asics Black and was another three-set battle. Legacy took the opener 25-21 before falling 25-16 in the second set. Legacy rebounded, winning the third set 15-12 when Jess Mruzik landed an ace for the championship point. Mruzik was a standout in the final, putting away a number of big points.
FaR Out 18 Black found its way into the Elite Championship Bracket as well, but suffered a 25-22, 25-19 loss to TIV in the opening round. FaR Out would still go 6-2 for the weekend with a 12-5 set record to land 19th overall in the age group. Michigan Elite 18 Mizuno was 3-4 for the weekend with a 6-8 set record while Legacy 18-National was 3-6 in matches and 7-12 in sets.
17U
Legacy had another strong showing in the 17U division as Legacy 17-Elite reached the quarterfinals of the Elite Championship bracket and ultimately wound up in fifth place. Legacy lost 25-19, 29-27 to H Skyline 17 Royal in the quarterfinals but bounced back wins three-set wins over Club V 17 Ren Reed and MKE Sting 17 Gold to earn fifth place. Legacy was 7-2 for the weekend in matches and 14-8 in sets.
Legacy 17-National was 4-3 on the weekend with a 10-8 record. Two of their three losses came in three sets. Michigan Elite 17 Mizuno was 4-3 as well with a 9-6 set record.
16 U
Michigan Elite 16 Mizuno reached the opening round of the Elite Championship Bracket but fell to Tstreet 16-Mike by scores of 25-22, 25-19. For the weekend, Michigan Elite was 3-4 in matches and 7-8 in sets, but finished tied for 21st in the overall age group. FaR Out 16 Black had a nice weekend, posting a 6-3 record with a 13-9 set record. FaR Out earned three wins on Monday to finished the event on a positive note.
Both Legacy 16-Elite put up a 3-5 record for the weekend with a 9-11 set record. The team suffered three three-set losses. Legacy 16-National was 4-4 on the weekend with a 10-11 set record. It won its first three matches of the weekend but struggled from there.
15U
Legacy 15-Elite reached the Elite Championship Bracket, but was topped by H Skyline 15 Royal in the opening round, 25-18, 26-24. Legacy ended up 4-5 on the weekend with a 9-12 set record to finish 18th overall. Michigan Elite 15 Mizuno was 5-4 for the weekend with a 13-12 set record. After a 1-4 start to the event, Michigan Elite won its last four matches to end the weekend on a high note.
