Lakes Volleyball Club is giving the athletes in district 831, along with the surrounding area, the opportunity to learn the fundamentals of volleyball and compete at tournaments throughout the state.
Teams: With 15 teams, the program is clearly meeting the needs of the community. It is great to see three teams at the 12’s, 13’s, 14’s and 15’s level. They are providing chances for all level of play and these years are important to develop strong skills. The club is very organized with a board and members, rules, and expectations clearly laid out.
They have several caring coaches who are providing elite level instruction. A few include: Rachel Harrington, Jamie Watters, Katie Bailey and Kris Bethke. They are preparing these athletes for competitive volleyball and the real world. For example, their pre-season officials training is very complete and ensures when the Lakes teams are officiating they will be no problems. Get your copy below.
The 12-1 finished 2nd at the Kill the Chill tournament. Likewise the 16-1’s have seen success early on at Bethel. Their 18-1 just placed first in the Big City Luau – Silver Division and will be at the North Star -President’s Day Challenge coming up soon too.
Junior Ranger: This program is for 7th and 8th graders interested in playing. Without junior high teams, it can be hard to provide opportunities for these young, eager players. The Lakes Volleyball Club saw a need and chose to take over this challenge. They run their season in fall complete with practices and matches against several teams (White Bear Lake and Stillwater etc.) It is a great introductory program with tiered teams that match players by ability. The 7 week long season is a perfect taste before starting high school.
Boys Ranger Volleyball: Not only is this program providing options for young girls, but also boys. Butch Bethke has registered a team of boys for the Minnesota boys volleyball league. Having strong ties to the volleyball community, this Ranger team is sure to be a top contender behind coach Bethke.
