Continue ReadingWe’re one week away from a busy President’s Day Weekend, and these Iowa Prep players are gearing up! This week’s Prep player is Bishop Heelan’s Nicole Jacobson. Jacobson, a 6’ senior MB, was a 1st team All-Conference, All-District, and 2nd team All-State performer this season. She led the Crusaders with 421 kills, 326 digs, 48 blocks, and 30 aces. Nicole will be moving on to play volleyball this fall at the University of Sioux Falls. She is playing for MVP this season.
Q) What do you most look forward to in 2019?
A) “In 2019, I most look forward to finishing out my senior year at Bishop Heelan. It has been a very exciting four years and I am sad that it has to come to an end. I am also looking forward to my last year of club volleyball and enjoying every moment with my teammates and coaches.”
Q) Who or what do you contribute your volleyball success to?
A) “My volleyball success can be contributed to everyone who supported me so far in my volleyball career. My parents, siblings, and all of my coaches have been very helpful in everything they do, such as waking up early to drive to a club tournament or staying late after practice to work on a certain skill that I want to perfect.”
Q) What is your most favorite thing about the club volleyball season?
A) “My favorite thing about club volleyball season is playing with different groups of girls and making friendships and memories that will last a lifetime.”
Q) What is the biggest life lesson that you have learned from playing volleyball?
A) “The biggest life lesson that I have learned from the game of volleyball is that I am a part of something so much bigger than myself. I have learned that by being an athlete and a volleyball player, you can affect so many people in a positive way and you can give back to the game that gave so much to you. I have learned that volleyball is more than just a game and the rules that go with it.”
Q) Best team bonding tradition that you have experienced?
A) “The best team bonding tradition that I have experienced is being with my teammates, having team sleepovers, and just getting to know everyone on my team.”
