That’s why February is the perfect month to show your libero and defensive specialists some extra love! Here are few from each class that we couldn’t live without.
2019 Class
Riley Decker – 5’5” Morris Area / Chokio-Alberta: A part of the KEVC family, this LI has learned to read the hitters well. She always covers her teammates and celebrate each kill as if it were her own.
Kaitlyn Arentz – 5’6” Lakeville North: Having played for Northern Lights Club, she will continue to shine at Lees-McRae College in North Carolina. It’s great to see defensive players getting recognition all across the country!
2020 Class
Kaylyn Madison – 5’10” Eagan: Taller than the average DS, Kaylyn is able to cover the court more easily than some. With all-around skill, if needed, she could easily play another position.
Rylie Rios – 5’7” Totino-Grace: We love the serve of this engergetic libero. She tallied approx. 50 ace serves for her high school team this past season. Her team doesn’t lose and defense when she can serve in rotation too!
Serafina Rivera – 5’7” Nova Classical Academy Upper School: She likes the back row but also like to use her athleticism hitting on the left side. She has played with other great up and coming stand-outs like Carter Booth.
2021/ 2022 Class
Hannah Jensen – 5’8” New Prague: It is hard to find another more perfect platform, especially at her age. Her fundamental technique gives her an edge against even the best competition.
Chayse Paulson – 5’6” Rochester John Marshall: Chayse is great because one match you may catch her in the contrasting jersey, and another she might be helping run a 6-2 offense as setter.
Tarah Johnson -5’6” Dawson-Boyd: This young, up and coming libero plays for Kandi Elite Volleyball in the off-season on their 15-1’s team and is helping her team battle in some of the biggest tournaments in the area.
Rachel Wieber – 6′ Northfield HS: At a towering six foot, some may be surprised to see her back row skills, but on the Northern Lights 16-2 team, with 6’3” teammates, it starts to make sense. Would make an excellent college libero or left side in collge.
