Some are having a breakout year, some are really improving, and others are just doing what their team needs. They all have an impact in different ways. Here are just a few to take note of.
Maddie Haines – Wisconsin Juniors 17-1 – Class of 2020
Committed to IUPUI
Haines is already committed to IUPUI, but she is having a really strong club season for Wisconsin Juniors who I would never count out of a match. With middle Karina Leber who has committed to Colorado State and newly committed Karlee Lois who will be heading to Wheeling Jesuit, a top Division 2 program in West Virginia, Haines has been hammering from the left and right pin as well as being a solid outlet in the backrow. Her play this club season definitely has her rising in the rankings!

Lauren Richards – One Wisconsin 17-1 – Class of 2020
Richards has been in the middle, on the outside, but seeing her primarily in the middle this past club season she has been extremely explosive! She can get up quick and snap, making her tough to defend. Seeing players switch position and work through the kinks of where they need to be can be frustrating at times, but once it clicks, its so fun to see it all come together and the success and confidence continue to build.
Erin Powers – Milwaukee Sting 17 Gold – Class of 2020
Committed to UAB
Powers has taken the reigns of libero for Sting 17 Gold. A swiss army type of player who can play on the outside or completely own the backrow. She has such a high IQ and great court awareness. She can swing from the pin at Mukwonago High School and has a state tournament appearance under her belt as well. Her biggest strength is that there is little weakness in her all around game.
Natalee Ring – Capital 16 Adidas – Class of 2022
Fast to attack, and then some for Natalee Ring of Edgewood High School and Capital Volleyball Academy. She brings such athleticism to the front row and is so explosive when she approaches. Listed at touching ten feet on her approach, Ring can power through a split, go sharp cross, or use the block extremely well to score points. She is definitely getting some notice on the court and I often forget she is playing an age group up.
Baylie Hansen – One Wisconsin 18-1 – Class of 2020
Who is that? After covering volleyball in Wisconsin the past year I thought I had seen most players at some point, but this past weekend at the Showcase a new player was making a huge impact. Baylie Hansen, a 2020 prospect out of Shawano High School, is 6’2, maybe 6’3, left handed and when she blocks, she is definitely looking down across the net. She is playing on the One Wisconsin 18-1 team out of Green Bay and they have already secured an American Bid. This team will be heading to MEQ in a few weeks and Hansen might just be one coaches could get a solid late pick up on.
Mackenzie Leach – Milwaukee Sting 16 White – Class of 2021
Some colleges have developed the nicknames of “Quarterback U”, “Libero U”, or whatever position they seem to train extremely well. For Burlington and their back to back state titles they have a trio of 2021 athletes which include Sam Naber (committed to Marquette) and Amanda Viel who is the Sting 16 Black libero. Leach, who has played on the outside most of her career is developing into a solid libero and will looking to play a bigger role for Burlington this upcoming high school season.
Emma Wollert – FC Elite 17 Navy – Class of 2020
Completely under the radar before this club season, wasn’t on our rankings sheet. Just goes to show there are still players out there that are hidden gems we are still finding. Wollert plays for Sheboygan Falls and is also a basketball player. With her athleticism and strength out of the middle she is going to be a dangerous player with her continued training at FC Elite. She can do a little bit of everything and shows flashes of dominance which I’m sure she will be primed to have a big senior year at Falls along with being in our next rankings.
Katelyn Lefler – Motion MVP 16 Blue – Class of 2021
The progression of Lefler has been fast and furious. After spending time on the right side and setting, she is really coming into her own. She will make quite the combo with high school teammate, Janelle Stuempfig who is setting for Sting 16 White. Lefler is jump setting every ball, putting up a big block, and is making what she does look more easy and natural. You can’t sleep on her jump set either with her ability to attack as well.
Others To Note:
Madison Weisensal – Wisconsin Ice 18 Purple
Elle Truckenbrod – Milwaukee Sting 16 White
Jazlyn Lohman – One Wisconsin 16-1
Ella Collins – Milwaukee Sting 17 Black
Jordan Berglin – Midwest Penguins 16 Black
