Continue ReadingWe’re quickly approaching the Iowa Regional Tournament, where some of the best players in the state will be playing! One of those players is Adrenaline’s Akeela Jefferson. Jefferson, a senior outside from Cedar Rapids Xavier, was a 1st Team All-Conference, All-District, and All-State player. She led Xavier with 367 kills, 200 digs, 34 aces, and 23 blocks. She will be continuing her playing and academic career at South Dakota State University.
Q) To who would you contribute your volleyball success?
A) “I contribute a lot of my success to my high school coach, Austin Filer. He expects the very best from every athlete he has and pushes us to get better every day. He always believed in me and I admire his love and knowledge of the game.”
Q) What is your favorite thing about club volleyball season?
A) “My favorite thing about club volleyball season is getting to see my teammates because we are very close. We always have fun together and when I’m having a rough day, I know it’ll get better when I get to practice and see my teammates.”
Q) What is the biggest life lesson volleyball has taught you?
A) “The biggest life lesson volleyball has taught me is that having a negative attitude will get you nowhere. Even in tough situations, it’s always best to be positive.”
Q) What is your favorite club volleyball tournament or city?
A) “My favorite club tournament city is Louisville because it has a really different feel than the midwest. I love being able to travel fun places during club season.”
Q) What are you most looking forward to at college?
A) “I am looking forward to meeting new people in college. I’m excited to go out of my comfort zone and be in a different state.”

Q) What factors led to you committing to SDSU?
A) “I decided to commit to SDSU because I absolutely loved my visit. I felt welcomed and I know it’s cliché, but I just knew it was the right place for me. I can tell how much the school cares about the well being of every athlete.”
