Continue ReadingIt’s Friday which means we have another opportunity to get to know an Iowa Prep Player! This week let’s get to know Dike New Hartford’s Carlee Dove. Dove, a 6’3 senior middle blocker will head to Division 2 Upper Iowa University this fall. She had 269 kills and 84 blocks this season and was named a 1st Team All-Conference and All-District selection. Carlee will study Graphic Design or Art Education while at Upper Iowa.
Q) What do you most look forward to in 2019:
A) “In 2019 I am looking forward to college since I will be playing volleyball. I am going to attend Upper Iowa University in the Fall of 2019 and play on the volleyball team. I am so excited to get the opportunity to play at the next level and to meet new people who will also be my future teammates.”
Q) What is your most favorite thing about the club volleyball season:
A) “What I love about club season volleyball is getting to travel to major cities throughout the United States. Club season has also brought me to meet a lot of new people from other teams and my own team. Being apart of a club team has to lead me to meet a lot of great volleyball players, teammates, and a lot of memories.”
Q) Biggest life lesson volleyball has taught you:
A) “The biggest life lessons that I have learned from volleyball are to always stay confident, positive, and to have good sportsmanship. These three lessons are very important since they are three traits that will help you later in life. By being confident, having a positive attitude, and showing good sportsmanship it will help you become a leader and it will also help your teammates.”
Q) Best team bonding tradition you’ve experienced:
A) “By far the best team bonding tradition I have experienced in my high school career is tie-dying shirts during the summer. I have always loved this tradition since it gave everyone the opportunity to get to know each other outside of volleyball practice. We would also wear the tie-dye shirts to a scrimmage or volleyball camp so we were all matching.”
Q) Favorite club tournament and/or city and why:
A) “My favorite club tournament memory is when I traveled all the way to California to play in eighteens Nationals. This has become my favorite memory because it gave me the chance to travel with my teammates and family. It also gave me the chance to play in a different atmosphere from Iowa or any of the other major Midwestern cities.”
