For some teams, it may be the end of their club season, and for others, it is just the halfway point. Badger Region is always a special tournament being right in the heart of downtown Milwaukee at the awesome Wisconsin District Center. The 17 Open this year will consist of 9 teams for 2 days of intense play.
Pool A
FC Elite 17 Navy
Taylor Birr from One Wisconsin 17-1One Wisconsin 17-1
RVA G17 Navy
This should be a tough pool with a couple big contenders. There should be a great battle with RVA looking to redeem themselves after a loss to FC Elite earlier this season. Don’t count out 1W though because they’ve had some success this year, as well as winning the Door Championships 2, placing 3rd at the JVA MKE Jamboree, and a 9th place finish at the Mizuno Showcase. FC Elite has had big wins, taking 1st at both the Badger Region Qualifier and the JVA MKE Jamboree. RVA also had a solid 5th place finish in the club division at the Adidas President’s Day Spectacular
Pool B
Wisconsin Juniors 17-1’s
Adversity-WI 17-1
17 ROYAL
Adversity and Juniors should both be considered dark horses in this tournament, and I think the match between them should be a fun one. Adversity had a solid 7th place finish in the Club Division at the Adidas President’s Day Spectacular with a crew that has been playing together a long time. ROYAL previously beat Juniors, but Juniors has had some impressive finishes, including 2nd place in the Gold Division at the Big City Luau, 3rd place at the WI Juniors Winter Classic, and 5th place at the Mizuno Showcase. Their re-match should be a fun one to watch.
Here are some big names to watch in Pool B:
Wisconsin Juniors 17-1’s
Karina Leber (2020 – 6’3 – Middle Blocker -Wilmot Union – Committed to Colorado State – Prep Dig Ranked #7)
Olivia Dir (2020 – 5’10 – Outside Hitter – Union Grove – Committed to IUPUI – Prep Dig Ranked #13)
Karlee Lois (2020 – 5’7 – Setter – Union Grove – Committed to Wheeling Jesuit – Prep Dig Ranked #18)
Madeline Haines (2020 – 6’1 – Outside Hitter – Indian Trail – Committed to IUPUI – Prep Dig Ranked #30)
Pool C
414 – 17 Elite
Capital 17 Adidas
One Wisconsin 17 Elite
414 is my pick as the favorite in this pool having taken 5th place at the JVA MKE Jamboree, but it won’t be easy. They will have to battle a tough Capital team that has recently earned a 5th place finish at the Mizuno Showcase. Capital has the ability to surprise teams. 1W will be looking to redeem themselves after losing to 414 earlier this season. They shouldn’t be overlooked as they had a solid finish winning the United Kick Off #2.
Here are some big names from Capital 17 Adidas to watch:
KJ McNabbKJ McNabb (2020 – 5’9 – Outside Hitter – Sun Prairie – Committed to Loyola – Prep Dig Ranked #8)

Ella Foti (2021 – 6’0 – Setter – Madison Edgewood – Committed to Marquette – Prep Dig Ranked #8)
