These athletes from Iowa aren’t only among the best in the state, but are in the conversation to be some of the best in the country. Here are a few who will definitely be making an impact far beyond the Iowa borders.

Devyn Robinson – Ankeny Centennial – PowerPlex – Middle Blocker
Committed To Wisconsin
If there was a dunk contest in Iowa, you’d have to put Devyn Robinson in there. Here ability to move along the net and get extremely high with her hops is ridiculous. She has experience playing with Team USA this past fall and then went on to win a state title with her teammates at Ankeny Centennial. She will be keeping her talents in the Big Ten heading to Madison to play for Wisconsin. Besides being extremely athletic, she’s highly skilled and always plays with a fire and energy that is infectious along with her smile as she celebrates for her teammates whether she is on the court or the sidelines.
Aliyah Carter – Dubuque Wahlert – Eastern Iowa Xtreme – Outside Hitter
Committed to Kansas State
Flat out electric. Carter has the swag and the game to back it up. She’s got multiple state titles for Dubuque Wahlert even when this past year was thought to be a “down year”, there will never be a down year when you have Carter on your side of the net. She can hit over the block, the sharp cross or split the block. Whether its the high school or club level the other side of the net has to prepare for Carter, the defense is scheming for her because if you slow her down, then there is a chance.
Sommer Daniel – Tipton – Adrenaline – Setter/Outside Hitter (Title Picture)
Committed to Utah
Daniel is the best all around volleyball player in her class. She has committed to Utah as a setter, but was named the Class 3A Player of the Year and Captain of the All Tournament Team for Tipton where they finished state runner up. This past high school season Daniel had 476 kills, 500 assists, and over 300 digs. Again, she can do it all. What is most impressive about her game is how composed she is, a natural IQ for the game. I remember watching her at the state tournament and as her side was receiving a free ball she set it perfectly back over on the first contact to land in the deep corner. She has such a savvy for the game that comes from lots of time in the gym and even on the beach which she can do at a high level as well.

Akacia Brown – Cedar Falls – Eastern Iowa Xtreme – Outside Hitter
Committed to Mississippi State
The Brown family is keeping it in the SEC. Akacia’s older sister is Kaz Brown who was a standout player for Kentucky. Akacia has such a powerful arm at the pin, she can split the block with the best of them and hit a hard cross with such pace its tough to defend, but yet she can still roll over the block to the open spot in middle back. She is a six rotation outside who will be one of the big leaders for Cedar Falls this upcoming fall who will be returning with some unfinished business after going undefeated before falling to Ankeny Centennial in the championship.
Morgan Weber – Dike-New Hartford – CIA – Outside Hitter
Committed to Wichita State
Weber is definitely a name that rings through the trophy cases of Dike-New Hartford. Morgan was on the team that last won a title in 2017. Not only is Weber a standout in volleyball, but she’s been on the floor of Wells Fargo Arena for state basketball as well. Weber will take her talents to Wichita State which was a former rival of Northern Iowa and Drake in the Missouri Valley, but now played in the American Athletic Conference where they where a top 16 seed in 2017.
Alayna Yates – Cedar Falls – Six Pack – Middle Blocker
Committed to Dayton
Two of the top 2020 talents on the same high school team will be coming back with big goals for the 2019 high school season. Yates has always been tall, but now she is really getting stronger and more physical at the net where she is such a mismatch problem for every team across the net in high school and club. When she isn’t getting a solid block, she is still adjusting the shot of the hitters. She will be heading to the Atlantic 10 Conference where Dayton was the champions, earning a bid in the NCAA tournament.
Rylee Fay – Iowa City Liberty – Eastern Iowa Xtreme – Setter
Committed to Missouri State
Fay is just so solid and consistent all the way around. She is running a 5-1 for Eastern Iowa Xtreme which she’ll set a heavy dose to the outside with Brown and Carter. Fay will be playing for Iowa City Liberty and will be heading to Springfield to play for Missouri State who went undefeated in the Missouri Valley Conference in 2017.
Delaney Rice – Marion – Eastern Iowa Xtreme – Right Side/Middle
Committed to St. Louis
Rice is long, athletic, and very dynamic in the front row where she can really adjust in mid-air. Rice is someone who can be depended upon to set a really strong block, can attack off one foot and can always be an outlet if needed. Rice will be heading to St. Louis who competes in the Atlantic 10, she will continue to see Yates across the net who will be in the same conference.
