Invasion Volleyball Club 16 Northland was able to snag 1st place in the 16 American Division which punched their ticket to Nationals in Indianapolis to be held at the end of June.
Rockwood had their 16s competing in 16 USA with 16 Navy just finishing outside of qualifying with a 6th place finish with a 5-4 record, ending in with a tough three set loss to Club One AZ 16 Platinum in a three set battle by the scores of 25-22, 22-25, 12-15.
Standout Performances:
Ella Brinkman – Rockwood Thunder 16 Elite
Brinkman is a high flying outside for 16 Elite who has an extremely fast approach. Not only can she hit with power, but she was able to avoid the block and hitting the open shots to score a lot of points this weekend.
Jordan Iliff – Rockwood Thunder 16 Elite
Iliff is a right side who can bring the hammer with the left hand. With two solid pins in Brinkman and Alexa Harris, 16 Elite is really able to stretch the defense out creating a lot of one on one matchups where Iliff can really terminate on the right.
Elizabeth Stepp – Highland Performance 17 Rox
With a bid locked up, Highland Performance was a team with a ton of athleticism. Stepp provided a solid first contact and was the commander of the backrow where they were able get in system consistently.
Rachel Francis – Highland Performance 17 Rox
Francis was really physical at the net offensively and defensively, she was able to win the 50/50 jousts and be a consistent threat to score as well as get a touch on the block.
Brooke Borgmeyer – Rockwood Thunder 17 Navy
Borgmeyer has an aggressive approach, fast arm, and is flat out electric on the pin. 17 Navy had some big wins this past weekend including two big wins on Sunday against Northern Lights and MAVS
Abby Lynn of Rockwood Thunder 17 Elite is committed to Louisiana.Abby Lynn – Rockwood Thunder 17 Elite
Lynn can do a little bit of everything for 17 Elite as a setter. She is always a threat on offense to attack on the second contact, but with her athleticism and high volleyball IQ she was able to get some really solid matchups for her hitters.
