Continue ReadingThe pressure is off a bit for the Class of 2022. As of May 1, any recruiting conversations were put on pause until June 15 after their Sophomore year (which for the Class of 2022 will be June 15, 2020). The intention behind this rule is to slow down the recruiting process, preventing athletes who are 14 and 15 years old from making their verbal commitment. This weekends Stars and Spikes tournament will feature some of the top players in the region with teams coming from four different states. Here are a few players from the 15 Open Division that will be on the radar.
Kylie Stremmel – MN Select 15-1
Stremmel is a really solid all around player where she can swing on the pin and has even seen some time wearing the libero jersey. With a solid skill set at the 15s level that really gives her an edge as her volleyball journey continues with the ability to play multiple positions where she can contribute anywhere at the high school and club level.
Emma Goerger – MN Select 15-1
Ammeraal can set and swing for Capital 15 Adidas.Goerger is a middle blocker who plays with a lot of physicality at the net. With her approach and snap on the swing, she is really able to terminate. When MN Select is in system they have plenty of options, but once Georger gets going, they are tough to stop.
Claire Ammeraal – Capital 15 Adidas
Ammeraal can do it all. At 6’0 tall, Ammerall can swing, set, block, and defend in the backrow. At the JVA Showcase in the Dells, Ammeraal would set in the backrow and attack when she came through the front row. This past December, Ammeraal was one of the top players from the Class of 2020 in the Wisconsin Top 250 Expo and is a top ranked player out of her class. Her versatility really allows her to do a variety of things to help her team.
Morgan Daugherty – Milwaukee Sting 15 Gold
Daugherty is asserting herself as one of the top middle blockers in the Class of 2022 in Wisconsin. 6’2, versatile, and can move quickly along the net, her ability to transition and be available to swing has greatly improved. Daugherty works great with her setters and has a variety of shots to score points.
Maleah Howe – Milwaukee Sting 15 Gold
Maleah HoweHowe is the second ranked prospect in the Class of 2022 in Wisconsin. She had a breakout Freshman season for Oconomowoc High School and played in the state title game in Wisconsin’s largest class (so did a few of her teammates in Haley Koch and Adriana Studer for Lake Country Lutheran). Koch has a physical and aggressive style where she can use the block to her advantage and also hit a sharp cross court shot. Either way, she is going to score points.
Grace Schneider – Milwaukee Sting 15 Black
Schneider is a pin hitter for Milwaukee Sting 15 Black which has had really strong showings all season, most recently at the JVA Midwest Challenge in Des Moines where they took home the title. Schneider was named to the All Tournament Team along with Tatum Baldwin and Aerene Lim.
Haley Graetz – Kokoro 15-1
Graetz was an All American in the 14 Club Division at AAU last year and was a middle blocker for River Falls High School in Wisconsin where she played in the state semifinals, but her future may be on the pin. Graetz is a strong athlete with a cannon for an arm, but also has great court vision where she can find the open spot to score points.
Kendall Minta and Sienna Ifill – Northern Lights 15-1
MN Select 14-1 has a USAV 14 Open bid.Northern Lights will be the number one overall seed this weekend. They clinched a 15 Open bid at the Northern Lights Qualifier last month where they survived multiple three set matches. A major advantage for Lights is their block and offensive output from the right sides Kendall Minta and Seinna Ifill. They play well above the net and are incredibly strong.
MN Select 14-1
Watch out for this group…remember their names. They most recently won the Molten Cup 16s Division and have beaten some really solid 15s and 16s teams. Don’t sleep on this team.
