2020 Must Watch Prospects At The Prep Dig Gauntlet
A lot of these athletes are going to be getting use to the term “Senior”. A little scary, a little exciting, a little powerful, but needless to say a lot of athletes are heading into their Senior year with plenty of unfinished business. There will be plenty of athletes from the Class of 2020 looking to have a big Senior year and beyond as they would be a great fit at the next level. Here are a few 2020 prospects to keep tabs on at the Prep Dig Gauntlet June 1 and 2 in Madison, WI!
Alyna Ritter – 17 Royal (WI) – Setter
Ritter could play a variety of positions at the next level. She has established herself as a setter at the club and high school level. She won a state title this past fall for Lake Country Lutheran where she had a state record, 61 assists for a five set match. Her footspeed and scrappiness are a real “X-Factor” which also makes her a solid catch as a DS/libero. Last summer she trained as a DS/libero at the Badger Region High Performance Camp.
Carlee Doering celebrating a block during her high school season at Kimberly High School (WI)Carlee Doering – FC Elite (WI) – Middle Blocker
Doering is a 5’11 middle blocker who could probably a little bit right side as well. She was the starting middle blocker for Kimberly High School who was one of the top teams in Wisconsin’s largest class in 2018 finishing their season at the state tournament. Her athleticism allows her to block from pin to pin and has established a strong middle/setter connection with Kalli Mau, who is by her side for club and high school.
Kate Nelson – CIS 17M (IA) – Outside Hitter
Nelson is one of the best available 2020 outside hitters in Iowa. At 6’0 tall and a really high contact point, Nelson’s club season has been a total breakout for her. Heading into her Senior year at Waukee, one of the top high schools in the Des Moines metro, she will be one of the main point scorers looking to take her team back to the state tournament.
Rachael Bohlman – FC Elite 17 Navy (WI) – Setter/Right Side
Bohlman, out of Green Bay Southwest High School, can do a little bit of everything. At 5’11, she plays on the right side when in the front row and sets when she is in the backrow. Steady and consistent, Bohlman knows how to run an efficient offense and can score points offensively and defensively on the right side. To go along with her efficient style of play she also has a nasty serve that drops right over the net.
Saige Christo – Nebraska Juniors (NE) – Libero
Christo will be one of the top liberos in this division with her rock solid serve receive and the ability to make the difficult plays look easy. Christo also brings an aggressive serve that puts the pressure on the opposing side right from the start. She provides a solid first contact to get Juniors in system and has plenty of attackers to score points.
Liz Pierce – CIS 17M – Setter
Pierce has been mostly backrow setter for CIS 17M this season, sharing duties with Omaha commit Olivia Curry, but during the high school season she is a very effective attacker on the second contact when neeeded. Pierce can get her feet to the ball and gives her attackers a chance to score points in the best matchups possible. She is also reliable in right back where she can provide a solid first contact as well.
