Teagan Starkey, a 5’10” setter from Lakeville, Minnesota, has the ability to set a ball on a dime. Starkey’s location, speed, and decision making abilities gave her hitters an edge in competition. Teagan’s strategic prowess helped MN Select 16-1’s take home the 17s/18s division championship.
Lauren Stenman, a 5’11” Maplewood, MN native, helped her team to a second place finish. Stenman’s ability to reverse the ball when pulled to either pin allows every hitter to be an option. On a fully-loaded team like the Kokoro 17-1, this comes as a huge advantage
Chloe Lieser, a 5’4″ member of Kandi Elite 16-1 team, proved to be a force on offense and defense over the weekend. Chloe has an eye on opponents middle blockers while setting, making it easier for her to push the long ball and find opportunities for her hitters. Lieser has quick feet to complement her never-give-up mentality on defense.
Cameron Berger, a 5’9″ 8th grader from Eden Prairie, played with speed and accuracy. Berger’s ability to set in and out-of-system gave her hitters consistent scoring opportunities from pin to pin. Cameron was a key contributor to the Vital 15-1 championship win in the 15’s division.
Stella Swenson, a 5’10 7th grader from Minnetonka, plays well beyond her age level. Swenson has impeccable distribution and an arsenal of hitters ready to go. Swenson also played solid defense against teams two years older than her. Her length and reading abilities give opportunities for her team to terminate out-of-system. Swenson is a 2024 athlete who should be on everyone’s radar.
