Continue ReadingIt’s finally here! The long-awaited Prep Dig Gauntlet will be in Madison Saturday and Sunday. Some athletes will be splitting their time between Madison and LaCrosse, where the State Track meet will be in full swing through Saturday. June is always a huge month that includes pre-national warm-ups and end with AAU and JVA National Championships. Here are some players to watch that could be on the radar of college coaches this weekend.
Alayna Ritter – 5’5 – Setter/Defensive Specialist – Lake Country Lutheran – 17 ROYAL
I’m looking forward to seeing Ritter play since I’ve seen her the past 3 years set for LCL. She is undersized as a setter, so I’d love to see what she does on a highly competitive club team. Ritter might just be one of the best kept secrets Wisconsin has in the class of 2020. She is so quick and scrappy with a high volleyball IQ. If Ritter continues with training as a defensive player, she could be a big time pick up at the next level.
Carlee Doering – 5’11 – Middle Blocker – Kimberly – FC Elite 17 Navy
Doering is an athletic 5’11 middle blocker. She has quick lateral movements to close the block and she transitions quickly to make sure she is an available hitting option. This Elite team is a favorite coming into the Gauntlet.
Emily Bruckshen – 6’0 – Outside Hitter – Howards Grove – FC Elite 17 Navy
Bruckshen is a really solid outside who will be a terrific pick up for a college program. The FC Elite 17 Navy team is really balanced with some strong D2 and D1 commits including Kalli Mau heading to Bellarmine, Katherine Walch going to Michigan Tech, and Emma Wollert going to Truman. Bruckshen should have some schools taking a good look at her after a strong season with Elite.
Emma Oehlhofen – 5’11 – Pin Hitter – Xavier – FC Elite 17 Navy
Oehlhofen is a 5’11 pin hitter who has been making a lot of progress. Her ability to play on either pin as well as her athleticism helps Elite create some dynamic lineups. This entire team has developed into some of the top players in Wisconsin’s 2020 class.
Kaitlyn Coisman – 6’0 – Middle Blocker/Right Side Hitter – De Pere – FC Elite 17 Navy
Coisman is athletic and she can elevate to make herself a physical force at the net. She also sees the court well to terminate. Coisman adapts quickly and will be fun to see what she can do at the Gauntlet.
Katie DiRaimondo – 6’0 – Outside Hitter – Manitowoc Lincoln – FC Elite 17 Navy
DiRaimondo will show you what a top-notch outside hitter in Wisconsin can do. She has a high hand contact and a high ceiling. When DiRaimondo is on she can be a big time go to player for FC Elite who has been developing a ton of college talent lately. This Elite team has just a few players committed so far but is extremely fun to watch and can score from anywhere on the floor.
Katie Pogodzinski – 5’11 – Middle Blocker – Pius XI – 17 ROYAL
ROYAL has been playing some really tough competition against some of the best in the Badger and Great Lakes regions. Pogodzinski is athletic and physical at the net both offensively and defensively. When her team has solid ball control and get in system Pogodzinski can be lethal.
Rachel Bohlman – 5’8 – Setter/Right Side Hitter – Green Bay Southwest – FC Elite 17 Navy
Bohlman can feed a really nice ball for her hitters and she can take a solid swing on the right side. She is a determined athlete who plays with a lot of energy and has found her way to contribute to FC Elite’s success this season.
Saturday Match Up To Watch:
V-Hawk Xtreme 18 National vs. FC Elite 17 Navy
These two clubs have recently produced some really great teams and these 2 should make for a fun pool play match on Saturday. This match will have plenty of top talent playing with some committed players and other young recruits that are being watched closely by college coaches.
