Hastings St. Cecilia – which should be one of the top contenders in Class C2 this fall and preseason Class D1 favorite Diller-Odell each won their respective nine-team pools on Sunday at Kearney Catholic High School.
Diller-Odell went 14-2 in winning Pool A, splitting matches with Summerland and Mead while sweeping its other six matches. Hastings St. Cecilia, meanwhile, went 15-1 to win Pool B with its only dropped set coming in a split with Hartington Cedar Catholic.
Here is how the teams finished on the day in each of the pools with the top five teams in each pool advancing to tomorrow’s championship division while the remaining teams move into the consolation division.
Pool A
Diller-Odell – 14-2
Summerland (Ewing-Orchard-Clearwater) – 11-5
Arcadia-Loup City – 11-5
Mead – 10-6
Stanton – 9-7
Humphrey-Lindsay HF – 8-8
Elm Creek – 7-9
Alma – 2-14
Doniphan-Trumbull – 0-16
Pool B
Hastings St. Cecilia – 15-1
Battle Creek – 11-6
South Loup – 9-7
Fillmore Central – 9-7
Hartington Cedar Catholic – 8-8
Southern Valley – 7-9
Centennial – 7-9
Clarkson-Leigh – 5-11
Falls City Sacred Heart – 1-15
In the championship competition tomorrow, each of the top five teams from Pool A will play each of the top five teams from Pool B. To determine the overall champion, only the results of the matches played against teams that were in the championship division will be counted. So, when you take a look at the standings with that format, here is how the championship division standings look headed into tomorrow.

Competition beings tomorrow morning at 7:50 a.m. and wraps up around 1 p.m. Once the C2 division is complete tomorrow afternoon, the A-B-C1 division will get started and run through Tuesday afternoon.
