McFarland will have a great mix of senior experience and young athletes to create a great community on the team. Head coach, Trish Fortune, and assistant coach, Marty Kvalheim, have been working together for nineteen years providing consistency and strength to this continuously developing program.
This team is quite spread out with key returning players in each of the classes coming up through the pipeline. This great spread will set this team up for continuing success in the upcoming seasons.
Setter Lizzy Fortune (Prep Dig Rank #80) broke the assist record last year and is looking to compete at an even higher level coming into her senior season. She leads by example on this team and will be a consistent force every time she steps on the court. Erin Eggers (Prep Dig Rank #125) is a fierce competitor and it shows on the court. She won’t make the same mistake twice and works hard to get a touch on every single ball. She will be a senior libero for this team. Helping her out in the back row is fellow senior and defensive specialist Peyton Witt who complements Erin well and is very consistent in the back row.
The junior class is quite strong with middle blocker Katie Hildenbrant who works hard every point and continues to develop in volleyball IQ the more she plays. Nina Crull is an outside hitter who will bring a lot of experience and consistency to this team.
From the sophomore class is setter and utility player Maddy Fortune, outside hitter Avery Pennekamp, and right-side hitter Hannah Rounds. These players provide a lot of energy to the team and will gain a lot of experience in the upcoming season.
This McFarland team will be looking for a run at the state tournament this year. They missed it by one match last year and the athletes have been working hard to grow as individuals in skill and leadership over their club seasons before bringing it all together this fall.
