Class AA has the biggest group of returning All State athletes out of all the classes. This is only an indication of the deep talent throughout as well as a precursor to how rigorous Class AA will be this upcoming Fall. Here is a list of athletes who are returning from the All State team as well as those to have on the radar.
Mikayla Coops – Belle Plaine – Senior
Erin Lamb of StewartvilleKira Fallert – Concordia Academy – Junior
Halle Jensen – Eden Valley-Watkins – Senior
Erin Lamb – Stewartville – Junior
Lauren Link – Holy Angels – Senior
Ally Peterson – Kenyon-Wanamingo – Senior
Cianna Selbitschka – North Branch – Senior
Brooke Weichbrodt – Concordia Academy – Junior
Kaitlyn Prondzinksi – Stewartville – Senior
Molly Schultz – Rockford – Senior
Cianna Selbitschka is the top player in Class AA. That is something that would be tough to argue after her performance in the state tournament last season with kills nearly 90 kills over the course of three matches enroute to a state title. Stewartville will be a strong contender in Class AA returning Erin Lamb and Illinois State recruit Kaitlin Prondzinski. Lamb is one of the best overall athletes in Class AA. Mikayla Coops will be looking to lead Belle Plaine back to the state tournament. The Senior to be is heading to Augsburg and has quite the heavy left handed swing. Coops plays on the same club team at Northern Lights as Lauren Link of Holy Angels. Halle Jensen is a multi-sport standout for Eden Valley-Watkins, but in volleyball is especially dominant where she had nearly 400 kills in 2018. Concordia Academy will continue to build on their tradition returning Kira Fallert and her setter in Brooke Weichbrodt who is definitely on the rise in the Class of 2021. Molly Schultz might be one of the most entertaining players to watch. The Kansas commit will head to college as a libero, but she can do a little bit of everything for Rockford as a passer, setter, and attacker. Alaina Wolff of JCC is very similar to Schultz in how she can do a little bit of everything, she is committed to Wayne State (NE). Ally Peterson is back for her Senior year after a dominating her first three years for K-W.
Who Is On The Radar?
Emilee Terry – Kasson-Mantorville
Payton Suess will no longer be in a K-M jersey this year as she will be starting her career at Wake Forest. Terry, the MSU-Mankato commit will definitely have plenty of swings and scoring opportunities. The KoMets definitely have younger players who are ready to step up and fill the shoes of the Seniors who graduated. Terry will be the leader of this team and will have a big impact.
Mackenzie Close – Southwest Christian
Close had a really strong club season which ended with some postseason recognition from AAU Nationals with Northern Lights. A front row attacker who can hit from a variety of positions will be part of a Southwest Christian team who will have a really strong Sophomore class balanced with some veterans.
Marshall celebrating at the end of a match at the SWMN Challenge.Mia Schiable – Marshall
Schiable is definitely in a class of liberos that would include Schultz and Wolff. A lockdown defender, she had a big state tournament last year for Marshall and will be back for the Tigers who are looking to make a return trip.
Logan Sherman – Marshall
Sherman may not have gaudy stats, but she is extremely efficient attacking on the right side in the front row and setting in the backrow. Marshall has all the pieces for a big season. They will be hosting the annual Southwest MN Challenge in September featuring some of the top teams in all classes from around the state including the Dakotas and Wisconsin.
Kathleen Bishop – St. Paul Academy
Bishop had a breakout club season at Northern Lights and will be high on the radar of plenty of college programs. She will be a Senior this fall at St. Paul Academy and at 6’3 and a high contact point, a definite force to be reckoned with at the net.
