Continue ReadingA lot of athletes seem to have a timeline in their mind. They want to be committed by this time, as if everything happens like clockwork. Unfortunately that isn’t always the case. There are some situations where some recruiting happens really quickly and for others it ends up being a rather lengthy process and a relief for it to be over. One strategy when it comes to picking a college – don’t pick one just to be “get it over with”, probably not the best way to choose. For seniors who will be starting their last, first week of practice who are looking for a place to play college volleyball there is definitely a spot for you. As for the college coaches reading this, make sure and keep an eye on some of these athletes.
Courtney Pearson – Kimberly
Courtney PearsonPearson’s last high school match was in the state quarterfinals where she had 28 kills from the pin. Just over a month later she hurt her knee in basketball and was out the rest of the club season. She’s been on winning team, she has some crazy angles she can swing, and most important she’s back. Pearson will be back for the Papermakers looking to make their third straight trip to state this fall. In 2018, Pearson had just under 400 kills for a team with 30 plus wins.
Mckenna Hall – Westosha Central
Hall can do a little bit of everything. She can swing on the pin, she is a really solid defender, can put a serve reception on a dime to her setter, and with her all around game she could probably set if needed. Westosha Central lost five seniors to graduation from last year and Hall will be a big time leader and go to player for the Falcons. She would be a solid pick up at the next level as someone who can do anything on the court.
Nikki Censky – Germantown
Censky is extremely athletic and has played every front row position during her career which makes her extremely versatile. With well over 200 kills in her Junior season, she will be receiving a larger amount of swings and with her electric arm and aggressive style of play.
Rachael Bohlman – Green Bay Southwest
Bohlman is a dual threat who can swing from the right side and also set, she also has a bit of a nasty serve too that is able to score points. The past two seasons Bohlman has been part of a successful FC Elite program and definitely has the skills to play at the next level. Being 5’10 and a solid presence at the net would be a welcome addition to plenty of college programs.
Caroline Craig – Edgewood
Craig has been playing up with the Capital 18 Adidas team which won the Badger Region Qualifier for 18s last season. A solid backcourt defender as well, Craig had over 1,000 assists for Edgewood last season where she will be returning with plenty of offensive weapons to distribute to.
Claire Chier – Oshkosh Lourdes
Chier is 6’3 and a major presence at the net on the right side where she has also spent time setting. In Chier’s Freshman and Sophomore year she was able to play in the state title match for Lourdes Academy. She will be heading into her Senior year along with outside hitting counterpart Rachael Russo where they have been big contributors their whole career.
Aubree Bucheger – Oconto (Title Photo)
Big time student of the game, high IQ player, and a really gritty athlete – Bucheger has found her niche as a libero. As a Freshman and Sophomore, Bucheger was playing on the pin and was a high flyer, but as a Junior and her 17s club season she really developed into owning the backcourt. She has a ton of range and understands the game well while being able to anticipate extremely well.
Lizzy FortuneLizzy Fortune – McFarland
Like Bucheger, Fortune is a coach’s kid that has most likely been around the game her whole life. In 2018, Fortune was the starting setter for McFarland where she had over 900 assists and nearly 300 digs for a team that went 29-10 and was the sectional runner up.
Natalie Dulmes – Sheboygan North
Dulmes is a solid backcourt player who can use her hands extremely well. This fall for Sheboygan she would be able to set or provide a solid first contact out of the backrow. Players like Dulmes are always needed to keep the gym intensity level up and provide consistency in being able to get the offense in system.
Mckenna Krall – Stratford
Krall played a big part in Stratfords 2018 run to the state championship match and a state runner-up finish. With over 300 digs, Krall played a big part in getting the offense into system and for All State outside hitter Mazie Nagel to get some swings on the outside. Krall will be back for her Senior year and will look to lead the Tigers back to the D3 state tournament.
