There is quite a handful of athletes who are heading to NCAA Division 2 schools across the conference. With Wisconsin only having one D2 program in UW-Parkside, it makes for quite the open market for other Division 2 schools to come and recruit some highly regarded athletes. Bailey Ramich (Neenah), Makenzie Morgan (Appleton East), and Brianna Weyenberg (Kimberly) finding a spot with Minnesota-Duluth and making multiple national tournaments to Abby Fortune who prepped at Appleton West and North is currently on the squad at Northern Michigan. Maddy Ahrens, who set Appleton North to back to back state tournament appearance is now an All Conference setter in the MIAA for Northwest Missouri State. The FVA has been great for Division 2 and here are some more athletes who are heading that route.
Division 2 Bound
Ava Aldag – Neenah – Committed to Hillsdale (Hillsdale, Michigan) – Title Photo
Aldag came up big for Neenah when three time All State outside hitter, Addison Barnes went out with an injury during part of 2018. The Senior outside hitter will be a big time, go to player for the Rockets in all rotations where she can swing and score points.
Brooke Bolwerk – Appleton North – Committed to Minnesota State – Mankato
Bolwerk has been working alongside Vanden Berg as quite the setter combo for North. Bolwerk has played a major part in the success of her club team FC Elite, with pinpoint placement and solid defense in the backrow. She is one of the first from the Class of 2021 to commit, heading to MSU-Mankato which competes in the Northern Sun Conference, one of the toughest volleyball conferences in the nation with teams from the Dakotas, Nebraska, Iowa, and Minnesota.
Kalli Mau heading to Bellarmine.Kalli Mau – Kimberly – Committed to Bellarmine (Louisville, Kentucky)
Bellarmine will be starting the transition from D2 to D1. Mau is a 5’10 athletic setter who has set in two state tournaments in her career and will be looking to lead the Papermakers to another appearance.
Megan Piton – Appleton North – Committed to Colorado Christian (Lakewood, Colorado)
The libero/DS from North is heading to the mountains to Colorado Christian which is just outside of Denver. Piton has a solid all around game, but as a high IQ player and student as well, she is very dependable in being able to provide a solid first contact to get North in system.
Lauren Richards – Appleton West – Committed to Michigan Tech (Houghton, Michigan)
Richards has quite the spring in her jump. A 5’10 middle blocker who is very dynamic had a big time club season for One Wisconsin and has been a main stay on the varsity roster since her Freshman year. A fast arm swing and lateral quickness is a major part of her game.
Taylor Vanden Berg – Appleton North – Committed to Wingate (Wingate, North Carolina)
Vanden Berg is one of the top offensive setters in the state. At just over six feet tall, she can attack with the best of them and provide a really solid block. She will be heading East to play at Wingate University, who was a national tournament qualifier in 2018.
