Continue ReadingThe draft for Fantasy Football is a sacred time. People involved in Fantasy Football watch shows, listen to podcasts, buy magazines, and do whatever they can to get the advantage on the rest of the league. Players are ranked by position, have projections for every game in the season, and some are even projected better or worse depending on what defense they are facing. Why not turn Prep Dig into a Fantasy Football Team? These are going to be the rules on how I will pick my Prep Dig Fantasy Football/Volleyball team based on the updated Class of 2020 rankings. Here are the parameters:
1 Pick For Every Group of Ten Players.
1 player ranked 1-10
1 player ranked 11-20
1 player ranked 21-30
I think we get the point. I will pick ten players total who I think would make quite a solid team throughout the season. I could make more rules, I could mix it up by geography, but I’ll save the magazine and just keep this to one article.
And the first pick is…..
#2 – Tayler Alden – Oconomowoc – VC United – Setter
Tayler Alden of Ocon with the set at Prep Dig Summer League.Committed to Northern Iowa
I would have picked any of those players. All these players in the rankings have such an upside. What separates Alden from others is her play at the net as a setter. She can take over a match and really find a way to score points. In fantasy football, you get rewarded with points for statistics. Alden is a triple double machine where she can have double digit assists, kills, and digs.
#13 – Marissa Klemann – La Crosse Logan – V-Hawk Xtreme – OH/MB
Committed to UW-Milwaukee
Klemann is one of Wisconsin’s best kept secrets along the Mississippi River. She is extremely dynamic player along the net where she can score points with her swing from multiple front row positions, but also make a big difference with her block as well. She will be heading to Milwaukee with a stacked Class of 2020 recruiting class that includes Kaley Blake and Sarah Schrader from Sting.
#29 – Katherine Walch – Notre Dame – FC Elite – Libero
Committed To Michigan Tech
Walch is such a spark on any team that she is on. She plays with fire and is extremely gritty in left back as a libero. She has the speed and the platform she can use to provide a solid first contact. A high IQ player and student, she is the type of individual you want on a team who will be dependable in tight situations.
#35 – Madison Weyker – Brookfield Central – Milwaukee Sting – Outside Hitter
Committed to Brookfield Central
Weyker has just been a mainstay for BC and will be one of the leaders on the court to lead the Lancers to a conference title and an appearance at the state tournament. A six rotation outside who has a really dynamic all around game, Weyker can be used in a variety of positions and will be able to score points as well as defend in all rotations.
Sarah Mattes41- Sarah Mattes – Greendale – Motion MVP – MB
Mattes is really athletic out of the middle. She has the experience of playing in the state tournament and knows what its like to be on a winning team. The speed and tempo she can go at would be a really solid combination with Alden. Athletic middles can create a lot of mismatches, combined with great court vision is a formula for scoring points.
52 – Taylor Pagel – Wausau East – Wisconsin Ice – MB
Committed to Winona State
Pagel has come on really strong this past season and was a bit of a hidden gem. However, it didn’t take long for her to catch the eye of some Northern Sun volleyball programs which resulted in Pagel giving her verbal commit to Winona State. Pagel works extremely hard to get from pin to pin and gets herself available to swing in transition.
61 – Emma Oelhafen – Xavier – FC Elite – Pin Hitter
Oelhafen is the ultimate swiss army knife, utility player. She can play in the backrow and has played both pins and has even stepped into set and play middle if needed. This season will have big potential for Oelhafen who will look to lead the Hawks to be in conference contention and make a deep postseason run.
71 – Ainsley Apel – Sauk Prairie – Capital Volleyball Academy – DS/Libero
Committed to St. Cloud State
Apel is an all around athlete and is just rock solid in the backrow where she makes routine plays, communicates with her hitters, and can always provide a solid first contact. She will be heading to St. Cloud State in the Northern Sun Conference. A high academic student as well, Apel is a great addition to any team.
81 – Madelyn Rettler – West Bend West – Milwaukee Sting – RS/OH
Committed to Upper Iowa
Another Norther Sun commit, Rettler had a big year for her Milwaukee Sting 17 White. A big swing on the right side or on either pin for that matter, she is an attacker who can really find a way to score points. Rettler, along with Sydney Paulson will be two big time attackers for West Bend West this fall.
91 – Sam Miller – Waunakee – Capital Volleyball Academy – Setter
Committed to Augustana (SD)
Miller ran a 6-2 with Waunkee last year and has been part of big matches in her career. With this combination of players Miller could come in and run the show or run a 6-2 that could get Alden to swing on the right side while she is in the front row. Miller is going to play a big part of Waunakee’s success this year. Don’t sleep on Waunakee despite the loss of Kiana Schmitt who is starting her college career at Creighton.
