We released our updated player rankings last week and into this weekend and published our first official top 10 team rankings in each class last night. So, it only seems fitting that now is the time to put out the Prep Dig Preseason All-Nebraska teams.
Just a couple reminders before we get to the teams for those of you that have followed us a while and also for those of you that are new to how Prep Dig handles its all-state and all-star team selections.
First, we always have three teams. The mission of Prep Dig is to promote and recognize as many players in the state as possible, and by putting out three teams at all-state time, it gives us a chance to give many more athlete the “all-state” recognition that they deserve.
Also, our all-state and all-tournament teams have 10 players on each, which is – again – more than the usual amount for the exact same reasons as listed above. In all, it allows us to give 30 players in each class the “all-state” recognition. As part of the 10 players on each teams, there are always two setters, six attackers and two liberos/defensive specialists. It is our feeling that setters and liberos are such an important part of the game but often get over looked for awards, and that simply isn’t the case for us. We want to recognize as many athletes as possible at those positions as well as attackers.
Finally, there is a reason why these are called the “preseason” teams. This is purely speculation on the kind of seasons I think these players will have. Of course, none of them have played a single match yet. Of the 30 players listed below, exactly ZERO are locks to be all-state selections at the end of the year. What each athlete does on the court dictates who receives all-state recognition, along with the opinions and votes of high school coaches and Prep Dig staff.
So, here are my picks for the preseason All-Nebraska teams.
