Outsides
Odyssey Warren, Sydney Handel – Lee’s Summit West
Handel – photo courtesy KC PowerWarren is coming off a 2018 Class 4 All-State selection as a junior and has hardly skipped a beat in 2019, averaging five kills per set so far this season. She opened the season with a 16 kill performance against Blue Valley Southwest. Handel compliments Warren well; the sophomore is averaging four kills per set and is hitting .316 on the year.
Olivia Lovett – St James Academy – Loyola Chicago
The Loyola Chicago recruit helped her team to a Class 5A volleyball championship with a 26-24, 20-25, 34-32 win over St. Thomas Aquinas. Lovett, a junior, has a solid cast of characters with her and a chance to three-peat as state champs in October.
Maggie McInerney – St Teresa’s
The junior has landed on the 2019 AVCA Phenom List and Saturday is a chance to show everyone why. She’s had a solid 2019, with a great match against Olathe North, where she had 16 kills and hit .500. She is definitely one to watch in 2019.
Middles
Sarah Bingham – Shawnee Mission East
The University of Illinois recruit continues to impress in her junior year. Her sophomore season was truly a breakout year for the 6’3” Bingham, who recorded 204 kills in 2018 for the Lancers. She got better and better as the season wore on, recording a season-high 18 kills against Liberty North in October.
Meauna Booth & Carsen Murray – Blue Springs South
Her 2018 stats are really, really impressive: 188 kills, .306 hitting percentage, 97 blocks (that one is a school
Murrayrecord). Those stats helped the Long Beach State recruit land herself a spot on the 2018 Class 4 All-State team. Murray has been firing on all cylinders in her senior season. The Marquette recruit is averaging nearly two blocks per set – oh, and she’s only hitting .320! The senior duo is hungry for more – the Jaguars dropped a heartbreaker to Willard in the state quarterfinals a year ago. A
Ella Duchane – Blue Springs
Duchane is on the prepdig.com 2022 Missouri Watch List – and for good reason. The sophomore is hitting an incredible .425 in this young 2019 season. If that’s not impressive enough, how about 10 blocks in 11 sets?
Lindsay Lahr – Blue Valley
Her junior season ended with her landing on the Kansas 6A All-State team, but Blue Valley came up just short of a semifinal berth at the State Tournament in 2018. Lahr would love avenge that. Her 2019 so far is insane: 59 kills and 14 blocks in 17 sets of play. She’s also hitting .393.
Come back tomorrow where we will showcase the Defensive Specialists/Liberos, as well as the Setters at the Mo/Kan Challenge!
