Co-hosts Wheaton Warrenville South and Wheaton North bring in 24 of the best high school programs in the state! The tournament is unique becuase it’s a Wednesday, Saturday two-day Tournament. We will split this into two articles, first looking at the four courts in the Wheaton North gym and then second article will focus on What’s happening in the Wheaton-Warrenville South gym.
Laying the Ground work
Ten days before the tournament, coaches ranked all 24 teams, then Bill Schreier becomes on of the busiest coaches in the nation. Not only does he coaches his highly succesful voleyball program, but he spends time tabulating votes and laying the groundwork for this great 24-team field.
How it Plays Out
On eight courts, three teams each play on Wednesday. The 1st place team on each court advances to the Gold Bracket, while the 2nd place team goes into the Silver and the third place, the Bronze bracket. All medal brackets (gold, silver, bronze) will be played on Saturday at Wheaton Warrenville South. Bronze matches start at 8am and play straight through. the Gold bracket starts at 12 noon and alternate matches with the Silver bracket, which starts at 1pm.

Wheaton North
Pool A – Wheaton North – Ct. 2
4A State Champ Marist leads this poll, followed by Geneva and Metea Valley. Marist is favored to not only get out of this pool, but to win the whole thing! Geneva and Metea should be a great matchup for the silver bracket.

Sandburg is always one of the teams to compete for a state title, so their top seed in this bracket is no surprise. St. Charles North and
Marist sets block against OPRFHarvest C round out the pool.

Pool E – Wheaton North Ct. 1
Top seed is Waubonsie Valley but has to play on the #1 court of the host team, Wheaton North, the 3rd seed in the pool. Lemont comes into the pool as the 2nd seed, rounds out this group of three.

Pool H – Wheaton North – Court 4
Look for a possible upset in this pool as Plainfield Central is the #1 seed here, but Libertyville is right behind them in the rankings at #2. Hinsdale South rounds out the pairings as #3 in this group.
