For athletes in Nebraska and Wisconsin, they had a taste of a Prep Dig Top 250 Expo in 2018. The first that Prep Dig has ever put on! Here is a quick recap of Prep Dig running their first events along with a few more details about what is all included.
Where does the name “Top 250” come from?
Prep Dig ranks roughly around 250 players in each state. In the majority of states nationwide, there are roughly 250 players capable of playing at the collegiate level – from high major Division 1 to NCAA Division 3, NAIA, JUCO, and everything in between. The event is a showcase that is open to any athlete looking to play at the next level and any coach to evaluate as their division rules permit.

A Quick Look Back At The Nebraska Prep Dig Top 250
Our first Prep Dig Event was welcomed with a blizzard across most of the state of Nebraska, but that didn’t prevent things from heating up at The Volleyball Academy, home of River City Juniors in La Vista just South of Omaha. With nearly 70 athletes from Nebraska and a handful from Iowa, athletes were led under the direction of Scott Mattera who is now currently the head coach at Our Lady of the Lake University, an NAIA school in San Antonio, Texas.

A Quick Look At The Wisconsin Prep Dig Top 250
This event had a really fun energy going on throughout the day. For some athletes, this is their first chance to start dabbling in the recruiting process while others are looking to finish it up. With top athletes from Freshman all the way to Seniors, it provided a competitive atmosphere all morning. While most of these athletes from top clubs are across the net from each other, it gave them an opportunity to play together, putting some of the top athletes from the same class across the state on the same court. Jon Ellman, Head Coach at UW-Oshkosh was lead coach, with eight courts strong across the Milwaukee Sting Center.

So How Does All Of This Work? How Do I Know What Colleges Will Be There? If I’m A Coach, How Do I Know Who Is Coming?
Prep Dig will take care of all of this. We will be tweeting out players attending as well as college coaches through a “Welcome Tweet” on our Prep Dig Events Twitter Page and Prep Dig Facebook page. We also will be sending out a list of colleges attending to the athletes and posting it on our website (starting next week) and we also send a list of the athletes attending to the college coaches as well. College coaches will be receiving athlete information as well as their metrics from the day of the event.
Can I Get Video From This Event?
Absolutely! We work with the best in the business, CMM Volleyball Highlight and Productions. For an additional cost, athletes will receive a highlight video from this event that can be sent to coaches as well as posted on any recruiting platform. Athletes will be tagged in the video from their expo number and their top plays will be in the video (the turn around time is usually 1-2 weeks).

What Is Different About This Year?
We have received a really strong start to registration we believe from our success at our events last year as well as the coverage we provide for all players. We will continue to provide preview articles, social media throughout the event, and content following the event. We also have Prep Dig GEAR! Athletes have the option to buy additional shirts as well as socks. All athletes will receive a Prep Dig shirt that they will wear during the event.
Athletes Get Better By Playing Against Better Athletes
It is very rare for the top athletes in the state to be on the same court and play together. There are club teams, high-performance teams, camps, but for everyone to come together and compete does not happen very often. Yes, there will be Division 1 athletes at this event. Yes, you can be committed and still come. Yes, there is a place for everyone. Attending this event is open for anyone looking to play college volleyball. The game and the volleyball community is an amazing place, one of a kind, and if an athlete wants to pursue the dream of playing at the next level, this is a great place to start.
