Akpeuwe Akpoigbe, 2023, 5’9, MH, St. Teresa
Putting up a solid block is one of Akpeuwe’s strengths as she had one solo block and three block assists in their semifinal win. She is not the offensive weapon in the middle yet, but who knows what will happen in the next three years!
Becky Bennet, 2023, 5’2, L, Athens
This small-town girl digs big, collecting a team-high 324 passes on the season. There is nothing like going to a state tournament and making an impact your freshman year!
Hollan Everett, 2023, 6’0, MH, Norris City-Omaha-Enfield (NCOE)
She was a hot hitter coming into the state tournament. For the season, she has 157 kills and 63 blocks. An injury in the state tournament slowed her down on day two but had 5 kills and 5 block assists in their semifinal loss to Illini Bluffs.
Layo Oladipupo, 2023, 5’7, S/DS, St. Teresa
The setter/defensive specialist was in mostly as a serving specialist for the state champion Bulldogs. Layo proved her worth with 6 service aces, 3 in each match playing a specific and important role for the team.
Kayla Spangler, 2023, 5’6, S, Rockford Lutheran
Her numbers for the season were impressive; 608 assists and 183 digs and tallied 33 digs. Kayla made some great sets at states and gave them as good as chance as any to fight for that state title. Kayla came away with 59 assists in the two-day state tournament.
