Here are six liberos to watch in the 2019 KHSAA Volleyball State Tournament, which will open at Valley High School in Louisville on Friday, Nov. 8.
Eleanor Beavin (Jr., Mercy): The back-to-back state defensive player of the year, Beavin is poised to help lead title contender Mercy in the KHSAA Volleyball State Tournament. Beavin, who has committed to Kentucky, boasts 600 digs.
Madison Jarvis (Sr., McCracken County): The libero for 1st Region champion McCracken County, Jarvis has registered 432 digs. Jarvis has helped to lead McCracken County to 33 wins in the 2019 high school volleyball season.
Karly McNeil (Jr., North Oldham): Among the key contributors for North Oldham, McNeil has logged 365 digs in 91 sets. The productive McNeil delivered a dozen digs during North Oldham’s shutout win over Woodford County in the 8th Region title match.
Haylee Nolan (Sr., Ryle): An unsung hero for Ryle, Nolan (326 digs) helping her team to the 9th district title match, where they fell to Notre Dame 3-1. Nolan recorded 15 digs and distributed five assists for Ryle in the region championship loss.
Maddy Pond (Jr., Campbell County): One of the most underrated players in the KHSAA Volleyball State Tournament, Pond has provided 428 digs thus far for 10th Region champion Campbell County. Pond is a first-year starter.
Jenny Wessling (Jr., Assumption): A proven performer for back-to-back state champion Assumption, Wessling has posted 356 digs. Wessling registered 38 digs during Assumption’s three-match stint in the 7th Region Tournament.
